It'll be interesting to see what the governors say, since it's up to them to a great extent. I think Mississippi and Alabama might want to wait another week or two, but we'll see.

I read yesterday that passenger air travel is down something like 95% nationwide. It might take a while for people go get back into flying, given crammed together and recycled air.

They’ve formed some alliances which is even more interesting. Northeast, West Coast and Midwest.

Kind of odd KY jumped in with the Midwest.

I’m guessing it’s more about safety in numbers. 5 of the group are Dems, 2 are Republicans.

I saw on the news a few days ago. March 8th, TSA screened 2.2 million at us airports. On April 14th, 87k. About 96% down...

We should all pitch in and buy us a 737 Max... They have to be going for less than a Tacoma. Gas prices Are dirt cheap and we have enough engineers and pilots on here that we can get that sucker in the air....

Gulf Shores is proposing to open beaches for limited recreational use May 1, and open beaches fully May 15. Restaurants can open May 1 subject to social distancing rules established by state health Officer. All of this is subject to approval by Gov. Ivey. The fear down here is getting everything open in time to salvage tourist season. If things don’t get opened, you should be able to get a good deal on foreclosed beachfront condos later this year.

No not really right now. Trump invoked the Emergency Power Resolution. This gives him centralized control over all resources, factories, media, he can suspend congress, he can even suspend election that pretty much everything. If a governor wants to open up a factory in his state he has to get permission from the President. This is the same resolution that allowed Roosevelt the power to make gold unlawful to own and the confiscation of gold rings during WWII. This is how he put Japanese Americans into camps during WWII. It has never been challenged in courts. I personally think it would be ruled unconstitutional but until it is he is pretty much in control until the crisis is over. Thankfully he is letting Governors control their States and he hasn't abused the power. You might want to look up the Emergency Power Resolution. It is really scary.

If you think that's odd, I have in laws in Ohio who say they are in the Midwest. I tell them they are in the Eastern Time Zone.

Columbus is east of Atlanta.

But, Ohio is considered to be part of the Midwest by most sources.

Went to Gulfport today. I’ve only left to fish and get essentials since the beginning on March. Wife’s birthday is next week, so I ordered a present to pick up. Gulfport was booming. 17ing retail stores are still open. Barnes and Noble? Open. Best Buy? Open. Academy? Open. Michaels. 17ing Michaels is considered essential. Tater’s words don’t mean **** if you aren’t going to actually back it up and make them impactful.

If it’s called a life jacket or life vest to ever get through the preflight safety chat.

Please post this 6 weeks after the other countries come out of lockdown. This is a pretty cool experiment. It would be fascinating to overlay a chart of each countries economic data with these lines as well

Dr Phil just said we have to open things up now or we will so far more death than the actual virus. He said we have to assume the risks and get back to work and mentioned 250,000 a year die from poverty and we could push 20% more into poverty, plus suicide will go up, drug overdoses, etc. He even said we need sports and we can wear mask and assume the risks, because Sports is such a calming affect on many people.

Pretty cool?

I think many would actually find it morbid and unfortunate.

Apparently he has never been to a Mississippi State Athletics event.

Kentucky shares borders with Ohio and Indiana and the larger cities in Kentucky are in the northern part of the state. Louisville is about 100 miles down I-71 from Cincinnati, Ohio, while Lexington is about 80 miles from it down I-75.

Back when the country was young, Ohio was the West. As the settlers moved westward, they couldn't call Ohio the West any more. Since it had never been considered part of the East, it came to be thought of as part of the Midwest, a term that originally referred to Kansas and Nebraska. The Dakotas are also considered part of the Midwest, but if you have ever traveled through particularly North Dakota, it is obvious that you transition from Midwest to West in terms of attitudes of the people somewhere in the middle of that state.
