This isn’t new news, but I was just looking into it more to see if I could access some forest roads over there.

Graham County is one of the more remote places in the state, and they seem to be able to mostly control access with just 5 checkpoints. They allow workers in that have documentation. If you’re a non-resident property/home owner, you have to apply for a permit as does each immediate family member, I.e. marriage and birth certificates. There’s a 14 day waiting period, and then I believe you have to isolate for 14 days when you get there.

Ironically residents are free to leave the county and come back which would seem to defeat the purpose.

Right now they are one of the few remaining counties with zero reported Covid-19 cases. I contend that when they do get a confirmed case, that those residents must receive all treatment in the county. Honestly, they’d probably keep it this way forever if they could...but tourism and all.

The Cherokee Reservation is also closed, but that’s a different story and I’m fine with that.

Beautiful country up there. We used to have a house up there, pretty much at the intersection of Hwys 129 & 28, Deals Gap. Wish we still had it. I'd quarantine up there.
