I think the Matthew Mitchell ship has passed...his star isn’t as bright as it once was... he’s averaged a 10-6 conference record since 2013 and only made it to Sweet Sixteen twice since then... all of this at a Basketball School.... Texas coach made sweet 16 4 times in last 6 years and her contract was not renewed....

It is always interesting to me how fans always hit the easy button when it comes to coaching searches with a list that includes assistants, former assistants, alums and Mississippians. And none of those people ever get the jobs for which they are touted.

I agree, other than Vic himself, she has had the most to do with getting our program to where it is today. I'm not usually in favor of promoting from within, but if there is ever a time to do it this would be it. We've got a great thing going and the best chance we have of keeping it going is to retain as many of the key people that got us there as we can.

Mitchell has had his issues at UK (link below), even with the success. I think we have to shoot higher.

We have elite fan support, resources and name recognition (thx to UConn win and Final Four runs) in women's basketball now. This is a massive hire for Cohen.

It's just not that frequent that we replace coaches who leave without being forced to.
