I would call all the big name coaches and offer them what we were intending with Vic. If they turn you down, oh well at least make their schools pay

He wouldn’t take our call before Vic.

Different time, different circumstances. We were in really bad shape when we hired Vic, and Matthew had just won an SEC Title. Would’ve been a downgrade at the time, now it’s a whole new ballgame with our program.

He is the best realistic option for us in my opinion as far as known commodities go. We would be foolish to not at least gauge his interest.

We are going to lose some players to the transfer portal. I suspect Madison Hayes will now ask for release from her scholarship. The dude could have been mayor of Starkville if he wanted it. Probably would have made the final 4 this next year. How long has he been talking to Texas? If this all occurred over the weekend I sure as heck hope it ain’t from the twitter crap fallout.

Twitter had nothing to do with Vic leaving for TX or a football player entering the transfer portal ( although some want you to believe that's the reason the player wants to leave).

I said I “hope” it doesn’t. But are you certain that Vic Had no issues what so ever with Mike Leach and his Twitterisms?

After googling, he's with UK through 2022 for $825K.

Wasn't Schaefer being paid something like $1.5M? Must be room in the budget to convince the guy to come if we want him.

One thing to consider. We may be looking at a massive hit to our revenues this fall. I expect Cohen to promote Johnnie Harris. Which might be the best hire anyway.

There’s a chance Harris will be making a million dollars a year as assistant head coach at Texas.

Mitchell would be a great fit & he’s an alumni who grew up in Winston county. Probably still has family there. Make it happen IB!

FWIW, soon after hearing the news I tweeted imagine Rhyne Howard and Rickea Jackson on the same floor together. Rhyne Howard retweeted me. Lol. She'd have 2 years remaining if she could transfer with Mitchell.

Rickea’s mom tweeted: “as of today, she is still a Dawg.” Needed to quote her since some may think I was making it up.

These college athletic programs that have been spending money like drunken sailors could be in for a rude awakening.

He definitely still has family in the area, actually a lot of family in the area. His brother is a dentist and is often in television commercials advertising Mitchell Dental Clinic.

Mitchell would take us backwards a few notches. He's been at KY 13 years with no championships. That's a long time to prove you're great and he's not.

The problem is almost anybody is a step down from Vic. And not sure how much more proven of a guy you can realistically get than someone with Mitchell’s track record.

If he was great, TN would've been all over him. He was an asst. there. But you go after better and let them turn you down.
