Take it easy on the kids. Who is truly being selfish here? Them or you?

The thing is we have had dumbasses in every generation, some grew up and became responsible and some that were responsible when they were young became dumbasses as they aged.
Remember that some of these kids will possibly be leaders in our corporations, communities, churches and government.
I’d hate to be judged by my decisions in the past. Thank God I have always been able to teach from those mistakes. I’ll never forget how it was to be young because I want to try and relate and teach from those mistakes somehow today.

My apologies if the joke went over my head. But it’s definitely them. Do... you think it’s not them?

Except nobody is judging them for their past decisions. We’re judging them for their current decisions.

Picture dated March 11th, FYI. Beaches were open then, though in hindsight maybe they should have been closed already (they have been for a few couple weeks now here in FL).

I think about a week later than 3/11 was the "no larger than 10 people in groups" thing in the area.

Florida acted late on spring break (Covid numbers have exceeded 7k). New Orleans with Mardi Gras and just being N.O. (Covid numbers over 5k).

You comparing being asked to stay at home to a labor camp? That aside, you are correct, people will do what they want.

Correct! And they started getting positive tests from breakers right after.

You should listen to some of the interviews if you really want to hear selfish.

These dumb 17s were from UT. How can a school pride itself on academia have students who sound so stupid.

So hang out on the beach in very tight quarters

With horny tipsy college girls in tiny bikinis or sit at the house and do nothing? I’m calling BS if any of you were single and said you’d choose stay at home. Heck, that’s probably not limited to single men. I don’t care what age.

Look back at 3-9 through 3-11. No one was in a panic. Check out mayor of NYC. Hell check out travel advice on this website. While a few saw things, many including me felt things would pass. Hell I went to Mardi Gras weekend honestly didn’t know a helluva lot about anything.

Nope- it was a discussion I had and heard multiple times when spring break was going on- everyone commenting was surprised the beaches were open in florida.

Florida didnt act late. Florida chose to not act until after. There is a difference.

Damn. Virus or no virus, that photo represents pretty much the direct opposite of every reason I find a trip to the beach appealing.

No one was really making a big deal about it here on March 11. They played NBA and SEC tournament games as scheduled that day- the next day was when things were getting canceled.

Now, folks were still crowding on to beaches 10-12 days after that, which was the height of stupidity. But the folks in this particular picture weren’t acting recklessly given the information available at the time.

On March 11 the only entity to blame was China for withholding sensitive numbers. No one has ever seen an event play out like this in their lifetime, and I hope I never see it again.
if this group activity gathering takes place now, it’s gross negligence

WHO warned us about COVID-19 on December 31st and our first case appeared on January 19th, well before this picture was taken.

Guess all of those Gen Z kids who run our government should have put in a shelter at home order then***

You need to revisit your timeline. WHO told us on January 14 that there was no evidence that the virus could be spread person-to-person, and China was claiming that they had it under control. As late as the first of March we had politicians on both sides of the aisle with access to intelligence briefings telling us to continue going to public gatherings and not to let this impact our lives.

I'm not defending the kids who flocked to the beaches. They probably should have known better. But I couldn't tell you I would have done any different in their shoes. Youth is wasted on the young.

The game changed on March 12. That's when Rudy Gobert and Tom Hanks were announced as being infected. It was at that point the NBA suspended their season and others started taking action. It was within a couple of days that the CDC issued guidance to limit crowd sizes to 250. That's hardly a deterrent from going to the beach.

Quit your ********...

Even the NBA (National Basketball Association) played games in packed arenas as late as Wednesday night March 11th while knowing one of their players tested positive. But now you're some Nostradamus who knew the truth way ahead of everybody else so you're going to pass judgement?

Yeah... right...
