I have the the slowest $70/month internet service known to man. 10 mb down / 0.1 mb up Then.. Wednesday our router burned out. Lights won't even come on. She dead.

After staying on hold with AT&T for 1 HR 26 MIN.. I finally got somebody to agree that it burned out and they need to send me another one. Nowhere to simply go pick one up. Can't buy one off the shelf over at Walmarts because it's gotta be an AT&T modem.

So... overnight delivery (cause you know... this internet **** is important right now)? Certainly, Mr. Xeno.. no problem. Be their Friday.

Guess what.. no delivery on Friday. No UPS truck materialized yet today even though our deliveries always happen around 11am.

FINALLY found the tracking number buried in the most convoluted website ever created.

Estimated Delivery?... Tuesday, March 31st.

So again.... 17 you AT&T.

You don't have to have ATT equipment. I bought my own router and modem & it works fine- Better actually. But, ATT does indeed suck

Co-worker had issues with ATT this past week too. Our company sent everyone home on Monday. He called ATT to upgrade from 25Mbps to 50Mbps since between him, wife, and kids all at home and the VPN kept kicking him off when he was trying to work from home.

He had an appointment on Wednesday to upgrade. Dude showed up, disconnected his current internet (slow but working), disappears for 4-hrs, then tells my co-worker that someone else will have to come the next morning to get the upgrade completed. ATT guy tells him he’ll hook his 25Mbps service back up, but then gets in the truck and leaves. His wife calls to complain and is informed that they’ll send someone back out ON FRIDAY.

I told him about my Cableone/Sparklight and that I was getting download speeds of 74Mbps on my laptop with both kids and the wife streaming. He called them and they hooked him up early Thursday morning.

Do you have any other options besides ATT?

Absolutely no other option until my electric power assn. gets internet in our area.

Back in Sept. AT&T offered to double my speed... from 12/1 upgraded to 25/2.. so I said hell yeah bring on.

First dude shows up and says he’ll have me going shortly. 2 hours later he comes back in and says he actually needs to run a new line from the pedestal. So he strings a line up my hill and across my driveway. Then he finally admit he’s broken my internet all together and can’t get it back on because it must be a problem “at the switch”. Long story short.... THREE more techs came to my house so a total of 4 dudes... and I wound up right back where I started with 12/1 that real world let’s me realize 10 down and 0.1 up.

So again... 17 AT&T.

Immediately when it happened I upgraded our cell plan to include wireless hotspot so at least kids can log in on laptops and do school work.

So not only is my internet out but now AT&T is making more money off my cell plan because of it.

Really it’s a genius business model when I think about it.

I am surrounded by houses with AT&T internet service. Every house is within 150 feet of my house but I have been told for the last 6 years that I can't get AT&T internet because they have sold their allotment for my area. I have even had neighbors move out and cancel their service only to have the new neighbors come in and get service within a few days. I called another internet provider that has service less than a mile from my house and they wanted me to circulate a petition in my area so they can judge community interest. When my kids are grown and I retire I plan to get right on that.

What modem did you buy because AT&T Elite Care of Chicago told me no commercially available modem is compatible.

The company called ATT that bought the old Bellsouth is actually what was southwestern bell based in Texas. South Central Bell and then Bellsouth were decent companies. ATT is the most mismanaged company ever. I worked for Bellsouth and South Central Bell and was proud to say I worked there but as far as ATT it was embarrassing. After 43 years I got my retirement and am glad I left that cluster17 !!

I didn't think you could do this with uverse and fixed wireless
Everything I have is with AT&T....but I have my own router bought from Wally World (Linksys). I left Comcast tv and internet in 2014 and switched to ATT. Have the best service I have ever had...been at this location in NW Ms since retirement in 2005. I hate to hear of so many having problems..

My son lives in NE Ms and was at the Corinth ATT store this morning (allowing one person inside at a time) trying to get a sim card for a device he bought
which may provide 'the hot spot' he needs so he can work from home and his daughter can do school work.

Blessed to live directly across the street from an ATT unit that I suppose provides the signal in my area.

Mere words can’t describe how much I loathe ATT and their helpless desk. Allegedly, our HOA negotiated with ATT and have applied it to our HOA dues. So we are stuck with ATT for internet and TV, unless we want to pay for ATT ANDother providers.

Ill have to look. I started out with ATT equipment and my modem went out so I switched out everything. Bought it all at Best Buy.
I set up all my in-laws the same too. They aren't using ATT equipment either.

My friend, you’ve seen nothing yet. Your frustration with AT&T hasn’t even begun. Nine phone calls over two months over an iPad order for my wife. They sent the wrong one They sent the wrong one. Took it to the local store and they said they couldn’t help me. If it’s ordered through AT&T online, it must be returned and re-order through them. Seven phone calls later, they finally informed me that they have it (although I had the tracking number that shows it was delivered two weeks before they claimed that they actually had it ). But Now they can’t send me a new one because it shows I’m not available for an upgrade. Because they’re unable to remove the upgrade that was processed for the one that I returned. Damndest cluster I’ve ever seen in my life. And I’ve been escalated to I can’t tell you how many people who assured me they will fix it. Not a damn one of them ever calls me back. And each time I call, I start the entire story all over again. It’s like they don’t even save notes from the previous conversation. it’s truly amazing.

It’s a little pricey but call MoFi. They make equipment for businesses and people on the road who need internet. They have universal modem/routers that are compatible with all telecom companies. I’m assuming your internet is through the cellular network? They specialize in cellular modem/routers and have equipment certified on all US cellular networks. I have their modem/router at my house. Cellular internet is the only option we have.

your connection is fast compared to ours. The ONLY plan available in our area is the 6mb dsl. We pay $90 for that **** and rarely get more than 1.5 mb down. The topper....their "hub" is full so if we cancel then you can't even sign back up. They are very literally the ONLY option for us.

A generalization here: I am convinced that AT&Ts customer service people exist not to service its customers' needs, but to shuck and jive, promise and not-deliver, until the customer just gives up. I have had similar problems with other name brand organizations, and my take is they just don't care. The companies' operate to serve the huge mass of orders that they get right. The remaining poor people that get poor quality merchandise, don't get any at all, get poor or no backup on problems are just out of luck. In their minds it's to their economic advantage to not go to the trouble to treat everybody well. Hence they hire customer service people that barely speak English in countries far, far away. Don't have to pay them much because all they have to do is say "There, there, it'll be ok." hundreds of times a day.

we switched last week from ATT to CSPire.

We were getting less than 3 down and less than 1 up at $70/month. we were supposed to be getting 10 up and down. They wouldn't replace the router or give us a new deal, so I said 17 em.

We are now getting 960 down and 640 up for $80/month.

I’m pretty sure they are lying to you. Most of the providers set it up so that you “have” to use their equipment, but there are workarounds that aren’t that difficult to do, and almost universally your speeds will go up. Google and YouTube are your friends.

I just had a super geek use a bunch of words I didn't understand to ELI5 that since I'm still on copper my gateway is tied to my account and thus AT&T has to send me my modem. If I was on fiber I could buy any modem and he could "extract my cert and authenticate it on the ONT".

I don't really know what the hell any of that meant but he was wearing glasses so I trust him.
