Is there a way to know how 'COVID19 deaths' are being determined. Italy just reported 900+ in the last 24 hours. That number is so far and beyond what any other country is reporting (except Spain) and so far above what Germany and the UK are reporting that I would like to know what criteria is used to determine 'Death by Covid.' Are they counting people who dont die from it but cant get access to care because of it? Another thing I would like to see is how many people died in italy this March as opposed to previous years. I havent been able to get a source on any of this information.

Yes they are including people who did not get care. That's why the death toll is so high there. Italy is prioritizing treatment to try to save the most people. Germany has done a great job of early testing, they have avoided the big spike by flattening the curve and while they still have a lot of cases, people are getting treatment.

One reason Germany has such a low death rate is the way they are counting. If you have an underlying condition and you die with COVID, you are listed as dying from the underlying condition. My son has friends in Germany, they told him that a few days ago. I saw it in print today. Since most people who die with this do have underlying conditions, that results in a low number of announced COVID deaths.
