who have Sirius radio there is channel 121 that’s all coronavirus info. Very good stuff on there as there are doctors giving out more accurate info than the news media. They were saying how bad the US is behind on all this and saying basically it’s an international embarrassment. As of today we were only able to test 5 people per one million compared to South Korea testing 3,000 per million. They were also saying it’s a little encouraging that SK tested 300k and only had 7k infected and that it might not be as widespread as thought.

That 5 per 1M is an outright lie. It's completely false.

We could have tested more earlier but I read an article saying the tests they were first using in China returned a 40% false negative. What would it have solved using those tests when the test said that 4 out of every 10 infected people were clean

I believe this channel is an offshoot of their "Doctor Radio" broadcasting on 110, which is hosted entirely by NYU Med faculty and NYU Langone Health doctors.

How is it an international embarrassment when it started in China and China lied about it?

It’s become a thing for people to **** on America, especially other Americans shitting on America. Healthcare here sucks, we are racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, etc... and no other countries has these problems.

It’s blows my mind people expected America to be sitting ready for a virus that has never caused a problem. South Korea is able to test more today because this has been a threat for them longer. That’s a fact.

It's a different society with different customs, travel patterns, etc. They were near ground zero, not a half world away. The only thing we could have done differently is have more tests to quarantine the positive. Outside of that we still have an abundantly ignorant population that refuses to listen to anything coming from NIH or CDC. The beaches of Florida are packed with folks who think that they cant get it because they are outside. Besides mandating an absolute home quarantine for the entire country, all we can do is help slow the spread. Since folks have a 6 month supply of toilet paper, meat and bread, staying at home should be no problem, right?

We have been slow to respond. That is a little embarrassing. Although I think that should fall more on the people than the government. I don't know how much better of a job the government could have done. We are a much larger and complex country/government than the ones in Europe.

The public and private sectors needed to respond quicker ......and we probably should have been encouraged more by the government to do so, but I would not call that an embarrassment

The people still going out to bars tonight....that is embarrassing

While I agree I wouldnt call the slow response embarrassing, I totally disagree that the federal government couldn't have done much better.

Public comment after public comment, misinformation was stated and then an expert had to come in at the end and clarify.
That **** is embarrassing.
This was cheapened and devalued over and over for days at a time thru televised comments and tweets. That **** is embarrassing.

Could you imagine a political race between Ron Paul and Mike Bloomberg?

During the debates they would have to stand on step stools to see over the podium.

The Secret Service would have to carry them on their shoulders so the crowds could see them.

Danny Divito could play BOTH of them in the Movie.

According to MSDH we’ve tested 289 (assuming symptomatic) people. So unless MS has 57.8 million people, I’d say that it is def a lie.
Hell, I can name 5 people I know that have been tested. The doomsday folks accept ******** just like the naysayers.

I agree, and I hope that the measures we are taking save a LOT of lives because we are killing entire sectors of our economy to slow this virus down. NOBODY wants anyone dying when it could have been prevented but there will be scores and scores of people losing their jobs over all of the measures we are taking that need their weekly paycheck just to feed their family.

Both work in theory. But both are run by people - and people are *** holes. People running unchecked governments with all the guns make it miserable on the masses. Individuals free from government influence monopolize with other individuals and make it miserable on the masses.

Short story - Ayn Rand and Karl Marx can both get 17ed

It's embarrassing because one of the major news networks, the major one according to ratings, Fox News, just last Friday began to take this thing seriously. Up until then they have been parading an endless stream of conspiracy theorist, hoaxers et al, before the American public and giving them free range to spew forth their B.S. Fair and balanced my ***. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram and the rest of those conspiracy theory spewing asshats should taken out and horse whipped for some of the downright stupid **** they have been promoting on Fox.

If my rant causes any of you Fox news diehards vaginal distress then tough ****.

The fear of news this country currently is embarrassing and is honestly sad. It's scary for this reason right here. People spent days twiddling their thumbs because "the media can't be trusted"

Absurd nonesense. And if this doesn't prove to people their conspiracies theories are dangerous, me might as well pack it up.

It's a fine line. Fox is overly optimistic while the msn, MSNBC, cnn are frankly lunatic fringe. I wouldn't give you a nickle for your msn, etc. They have a hard left agenda that has nothing to do with the truth of this illness

I ain't getting into specifics of those networks....but I can say without a shadow of doubt......if your news source wasn't telling you mid-week last week this was going to happen......then your news source sucks.

If your new source was not preparing you for this last week....YOUR NEWS SOURCE HAS AN AGENDA. ....you really can't argue that

The information was out there. They intentionally suppressed it. Or ignored it.

So, just look at where you are getting your news from. If they didn't prepare you, then they failed you....and it's wasn't a mistake. What's coming isnt a secret.

Hopefully a couple of our news stations will start losing viewer. Hard to deny how bad some are now

You have been spouting nonsense for days. Are you a physician? If not, you haven't got a clue. You act crazy like this is Virus X and everyone is going to die, whereas this is bad enough in the US with a mortality rate declining each day as more test are performed and positive folks quarantined.

In 4 days due to more tests being performed, the mortality rate in the US have declined from 4 % to 1.75 and gets lower each day. It is bad enough without acting crazy. By the way, have you seen those stats on your preferred news network? I doubt it because this is spiralling out of a public health concern into a politically motivated jihad.

China intentionally suppressed what was a serious problem. It could have been contained in China. They covered this up for 2 months.

Show me where I said anything about CNN being better? You mentioned then not me. That’s the problem with some of you brain dead m-f’ers. Just because someone attacks your news source you automatically assume (and incorrectly so I may add) that they are from the opposition.

But just for the record, CNN’s coverage has been light years ahead of Fox on this particular issue.

No it hasnt. They have been over the top trying to create a panic. I dont care what any of the outlets are saying. If you arent listening to the CDC and National Institutes of Health, you have been fed a political slant.

So you disagree with the head of the CDC on the potential and our risk. What reasons, other than your 4 day morality rate, leads you to believe you know more than the CDC?

Specific sources, data, qualifications, anything

Also your post doesn't address the issue of hospital bed and ventilator shortages. Why do you feel so confident that will not happen?

I’m calling ******** on the testing. Oxford has had the ability to test for over a week. I’m a lifelong State guy that lives and works there. I had 2-3 friends get tested a week ago. All negative. I think they are pushing an agenda. Red med and other little clinics now have the ability. Tupelo has drive thru testing now. What the hell do they want? Everyone in the population to get tested whether they have symptoms or not? It doesn’t prove much if they can get infected 5 mins after the test.

You did not read my statement correctly. I said COMPARED to Fox they were light years ahead. Fox has been promoting out right conspiracy theories AND telling folks to just go on about your daily lives as if nothing is going on. That is IMO borderline criminal. FWIW I get my info from CDC, John Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic. I find these sources trustworthy.

I follow the CDC and Dr Fauci plainly stated that this will have a mortality rate under 1%. You know, the head of NIH and world renowned virology specialist. He said if we would follow simple precautions of sanitation, test and quarantine and limit exposure, we will get through this. On the other hand if folks continue to act stupid and dont need this advice, we will have a smouldering issue for a while. This is a serious illness, but has not caused any deaths here. Or Texas. Or in about 40 other states. Be smart and do what CDC recommends, but screaming that we are all going to die in every thread is idiocy.

So you disagree that it could be hundreds of thousands....even worse. That if we go about our daily lives that might happen? You disagree?

Do you think to avoid something like that we should start taking more drastic measures? Much more.

Illness or deaths? Illness of course. No I dont think we will see the kind of deaths some have thrown out. It's a terrible illness, but in general, if you arent elderly, have preexisting conditions or heart/respiratory issues, it should be a transient illness. We arent Italy. And our health care facilities are not swamped to this point.

Tell me this, as recently as 2017, 1.7 million people died wotlrldwide of TB. Why no freak out? Under President Obama, 20,000 US citizens died of Swine Flu one year. Why no freak out? I'll let you decide why an illness that so far has resulted in less than 100 deaths is causing chaos while last year thousands and thousands died from the flu and no one said a thing.
