This is only one additional week. Their spring break is next week. What are those parents supposed to do?

My wife's a teacher --- this morning I bet her schools here would begin announcing on Friday that they'll be closed to either end of March or possibly even Easter. Make it up in June.

It'll be like those snow days. When one announces, it'll begin a chain reaction through the entire state.

Some parents will fret over childcare. Others would fret if children were made to return to school while folks like the NBA, NCAA and virtually every other entity in the country are not allowing congregations.

But rest assured.. at this point no school administration is going to be the one who risks being on the news because they didn't cancel classes and had an outbreak in one of their buildings. Ain't nobody charging down that machine gun nest alone.

For me.. my bigger question is: Will the State forgive whatever days are missed off the 185?

Yeah, we just cancelled our plans to head to Memphis during our spring break week. We had already decided not to go to the zoo or any other major public area, but I swear... every time a new case is confirmed, it's followed by "such and such recently traveled to ______". It just isn't worth it right now, and between the growing cases in Memphis and now the entire city being out of school, we'll hold off on the visit

The surrounding municipalities aren't following suit...yet. This is the message I just received:

A message from COLLIERVILLE SCHOOLS
Collierville Schools Families and Employees -
The six municipal Shelby County superintendents in Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Lakeland, and Millington are aware of the decision of Shelby County Schools to cancel classes starting Friday, March 13th through March 30th. At this time, neither the Shelby County Health Department nor the Tennessee Department of Education have made recommendations to close schools to contain the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19. As such, there are not plans to close municipal schools at this time, though the situation is fluid and we will make decisions on school closures as new information emerges. We will continue to consult with the Shelby County Health Department and the Tennessee Department of Education to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students and staff.

The growing cases in Memphis? I guess 1 in all of Shelby county, technically , is "growing cases". Some of you seriously need to get over your fears of cities

If there’s one there’s more. Doesn’t mean they’re showing symptoms, or that it’s even being tested for. That’s the problem right now. The US is primarily not testing for it.
