The early rounds it will be really odd, but can you imagine the final four with it being played in a football arena with just a court to fill the space? It’ll be like watching a t-ball scrimmage at Yankee Stadium. There’s no way this won’t affect the quality of play. It’ll be tough on the announcers as well, at every dead ball all eyes will be on them, with no crowd shots to pan to they’ll have a good bit of dead air to fill.

I suspect it will limit early upsets, as there won't be crowds to support Cinderellas and therefore refs won't feel as much crowd pressure to make borderline calls against better teams.

They must have got some bad news from the government. That’s A LOT of revenue to turn down

This. Saw somewhere that the NCAA Tournament is like 90% of the NCAAs revenue each year. They didn't make this decision without considering a lot of factors.

I would imagine an overwhelming amount of the revenue comes from TV and not tickets sold. I read sheets they are looking to move to smaller venues, so that will make it cheaper to operate.

That’s probably true. It you’re still talking about millions of dollars for the games and travel expenses for the host cities.

It’s really gonna have a big economic impact on the cities where these were to be played. That’s a lot of empty hotel rooms and restaurants in the vicinity of these arenas. They probably budget for the year based on expected revenue from the tournament, so they’ll probably hafta go back and redo their budget. Right decision or not the consequences from these decisions will have an effect on thousands of people that have never looked at a bracket.

What a joke!!!! It kisses me off with the over reaction across the board in the US. It is no more contagious than the flu, and yes I know there is a vaccine for the flu, but it’s not always effective and less than 40% are vaccinated. As of now it is only slight higher in mortality than the flu. The average age of mortality for this is 81! If someone is elderly and has diabetes and wants to take that risks then let them take it.

we ALL know the risks of smoking and drugs and alcohol abuse so why don’t we just quit selling all of it and live and work in a bubble at home and never leave!

Our men's team seems to be ahead of the curve on this one. Been preparing all season for just this scenario.
It's your time to shine, fellas!

We’ll probably make tourney and make run to final four. Would be most Miss State thing ever to play for championship and nobody could be there to see it!

back to a basketball game?
When I saw a law suite had been filed against Princess Cruises before the plaintiff even got off the boat docked in Oakland I figured we would see a lot of this.

Interesting. Would be the most Miss. State thing ever to play for a championship in an arena you could be the dominant crowd in (New Orleans) and no one can go. Although, I wouldn't mind the SEC tournament doing the same to keep the hillbillies from taking over in Nashville.

Our fans wouldn't go anyway. They are still mad at the searing arrangement, no beer in the hump, street ball, or stans or whatever it is that keeps everyone away from in season games

You are wrong that C is no more contagious than the flu. The spread factor for C is nearly 3 times higher than the flu. That said, the whole thing has become a fiasco due to the constant breaking news by the media.

Oops. Site showed your reply under mine and I didn't read the quote and replied mistakenly. You are right on the men's team. Women's team is the one getting screwed on fans.

another one...again, God I hope you’re a sidewalk fan.

lol oh great Another panic-stricken moron. I’m great with you sealing yourself in your home clutching your Lysol and toilet paper. One less person I have to deal with when I go out and do things in the general public. You can seal yourself in your house the rest of your life for all I care.

Nobody said anything about sealing themselves inside nor bathing in Lysol. But saying it’s a ******** cold and isn’t as contagious as the flu is a flat out lie and an ignorant take. That’s all that is being said. Panicking? The only thing difference in my life now as opposed to before the outbreak is I’ll wash my hands a little longer. Not saying it isn’t being blown out of proportion or being politicized.

But the real threat from the virus isn’t that most of us may catch it, it’s the loved ones of ours that are elderly or have compromised immune systems that we may pass it to.

I’m not panicking. I’m not sealed in my house. You thinking this is equivalent to a cold makes you the clear moron.

This game against Florida maybe the most relaxing game of the year. Win or lose the tournament might not even go on at this point. It’s nothing more then watching this team play an exhibition game imo. Even if March Madness does go on as planned, it’s just not going to be great anyway. I’m not going to be nearly as upset with the just making the NIT, as I would have under a normal scenario.

Just really a shame, because this had the potential to be a great tournament.

For a university that has seen ZERO national championships in any major TEAM sport, it would be a welcome accomplishment regardless of headcount in the arena.

Who cares?!

For the record, I will take an NCAA Men's Basketball Championship regardless of the circumstances.

Very likely, this year's champion will stand out from all others until the end of time.
