The Shed is over cooked, over sauced, and over priced. No idea on your other options but in my opinion you go to the coast for a shrimp or fried oyster poboy.

Murky Waters
The Shed
or
Slap Ya Momma?

No right answer there. They are all ok if you are just craving barbecue (or at least we’re st one time; haven’t been to any of them in a long time), but none of them are good barbecue. I’m assuming there is a good bbq joint somewhere on the coast but I don’t kno what it is. Not usually looking for it but also haven’t Heard anybody from down there talk about a good bbq place.

The Shed used to be good several years ago. It has gone downhill since then. I’m pretty sure most of their business are tourists now (I don’t know any locals that still go there).

Murky Waters is good, but my go to is a small place in ‘Goula called Rob’s on the Side.

Good luck, finding it on The Coast. I've been here over 20 years, and have only experienced rare, seemingly accidental, goodness.

This is inexplicable to me. I always just assumed it was down there and only locals knew where to get it. How int he hell can a place the size of the coast supporting that many mediocre to bad barbecue joints not attract a good one?

I don't think I could do the restaurant business but that seems like an opportunity to print money.

Who goes to the Coast to get BBQ? Weird

I don't know any good BBQ joints anywhere on any coast, because it's not where you go to get BBQ.

Stop at Leatha's in Hattiesburg if you want BBQ. Or get it at Petty's next time you're in Starkville. Or Saw's in Birmingham.

We don't really have any. I'd skip and get something authentic if I were you, but if you have to, Murky Waters and only get wings.
Taronto's, The Chimney's, Mary Mahoney's, Sal and Mookies, Rebel Dip, and the OG Halfshell are all places you need to check out. There's a new place in down town bay st louis I haven't tried yet and can't remember the name, but a lot of people I know think it's great.

Slap Ya Momma, despite (or actually, maybe because of) the great location is not good.

DO NOT stop at Leatha’s or Petty’s if you want BBQ. Both of those are god awful. DO stop at Sorry *** Wilson’s if you want BBQ.

Hmmm. That was not my experience. We were there a while back and my ribs were delicious, and I cut the meat off the bones with my fork. Everybody in my group enjoyed it a lot.

I'm not saying you can't occasionally come across it. It's not for a lack of folks trying. But there is no consistent, "no-brainer", stop for BBQ. You have to hope you catch it on a good day...
