Opened Up in Starkville. Just had my first meal there and it just beat every meal I’ve had at the Veranda in the last 12 months.

Hope they have a long and successful stay in Starkville.

The one in Madison is overpriced and over-hyped. A deep-fried serving of meh.

Most restaurant chains have a special staff that goes to new outlets to both get the new one up and running and to train the local employees. Most are good when they first open. Give it 6 months. The typical Starkville restaurant either relies on first job student help that doesn't want to be there, or are so mismanaged they can't stay open (Chili"s).

I know this is not a popular comment. But I have been ripped off by so many ****** meals in Starkville I don't even stop anymore.

Better than Veranda? That’s not saying much. Veranda was garbage when I was in college (early 2000’s), and it still is. I confirmed the morning after the LSU game - first time there in 10 years, and it still delivered very poor service and equally bad quality of food.

Yes, it doesn’t say much. But given some of the similarities in price, menu, and vibe that’s why I drew the comparison.

Agreed. Maybe the Starkville one is better. Speaking of over priced, is the Grill still in business? That place took a nosedive when it moved out of the cotton district

It’s just an average spot. People are always nice in my experience. Food is ok

The restaurant business is a meritocracy, each location stands on it's on. Obviously the Veranda has been killing it for many years (at a higher than average price point), that means it is probably a good restaurant. Even if it closed tomorrow, it had a hell of a run. One of the best best blue plates you will find.

The ones in Flohood and Brandon are good.

I've had a few bad experiences at the Flowood one, but for some reason I decided to give the Madison one a try a few weeks ago and was surprised that it was decent. Didn't find it to be any more overpriced than any restaurant is nowadays.

So you're not impressed with the FLAVOR!? Truth be told neither am I. Haven't eaten there in probably 10+ years myself. Just wasn't impressed with the food...especially with what they charged for it.

I have been very underwhelmed both times I’ve been to the new location in Madison. The vibe is...... weird and uncomfortable. Which is sad, because I always enjoyed it at the old location by Home Depot.

It is not only still in business. It is probably the most popular restaurant in Starkville. Half hour to an hour wait for a table on Thursday, Friday, Saturday night is not unusual. Packed out for brunch on Sunday. And if you consider it overpriced, I have to wonder how much you eat out.

Exactly. The old location was our go-to spot with the kids. Now, we’re hitting up other spots after the move.

Everything about the Grill is awful. I had to stop going.

We always stop at the one in Hattiesburg on when we come home from Florida. It has been good every single time and I’ve never gotten the same meal twice.

Olemiss douchebags. I dont know the management/ownership dynamics but the two that I dealt with when they came to h’burg were young arrogant asshats.

Agreed. Veranda 17ing blows. It was only ever considered decent when them and Harvey’s were the only game in town. Its manageable as a casual lunch spot ever so often, but that’s about it.
