As far as I can tell, there are two options for internet off East Lee, Maxxsouth and ATT. Maxxsouth is expensive (compared the Cspire Fiber in Flowood) and ATT only offers 18 mbps. If Maxxsouth is the only real option, what is the best package for two college students?

Wake up.......you are now in Starkville, MS, home of Mississippi State University. Prices are high. My preference is anything other than T no matter the cost.

My house is just off of E Lee and MaxxSuck is my only option. Nobody else provides service there, I've contacted them all. I pay $59/mo for "Up To 35mbps" download. Using their very own speed test website, I've never seen it go over 20mbps. It cuts out about 4-6x/ day (or more, not sure what happens when I'm not there) for a couple minutes then pops back on. They blamed my modem/router when I complained. I told them if I replaced it and it didn't fix it they owe me the price of the modern. It didn't fix it, and of course they don't want to pay. They replaced the line coming into the house from the street, it didn't fix it. Good Luck!

You really can't make a basic decision about your internet provider without polling a sports message board?

You would think a college town that it's University promotes being a technology leader with their Supercomputer, auto, energy, and agriculture cutting edge development would make it so that town is advanced in internet and wifi capability. You would think they would have nextgen stuff in place.

MSU campus and good bit of Starkville has a 1 gig connection

Its pretty advanced for most towns its size. But yet, we have our own who want to dump on town and university because one part that is in unincorporated part of the county does not have better connection.

ETA: If the demand is there, the private sector/market will make it available.

When I lived in Starkville, our neighborhood was one of the first to get gigabit. It topped out at 180 mps.

And a surprising bit of Starkville inside city limits still has nothing or only 1 provider. I work w/ a girl that lives down S.Montgomery in Greenbriar and she has to use a hotspot because there's no service there. When we were looking for our house I was amazed at areas that didn't have internet available. It was a deal killer for a few because we do everything w/ internet, all our tv comes from it, I do bill paying, order most everything we use, etc.

You took the time to make that comment? If the post begins with OT, just keep on scrolling...saves you time so you can concentrate on sports!

I Live in Greenbriar. We have had C Spire fiber for 3 years. The whole neighborhood has access to C Spire and MaxxSouth.

Look into a hot spot or fixed wireless from Att

I've had good luck with hotspots, but want to hear more about the fixed wireless from ATT. At the reservoir, Cspire is offering "wireless" fiber to a few neighboorhoods with good results.
