This team just doesn’t seem to want to make the NCAA tourney. A loss today kills all chance besides the auto bid.

They can run, they can jump, but they cannot play basketball. I don’t fault their effort but we just look like a bunch of guys playing at the Sanderson.

Carter’s a great kid, but he has just been killing us lately. Careless turnovers leading to points for the other team, and he is just throwing up bricks every night.

To put things in perspective, Perry’s ugly *** 3 pt shot is actually dropping at a higher clip than Tyson’s this year

I've said it once, I will say it again. They are the most undisciplined team we have had since Rick Ray and I know from the "miked up" games that Howland is coaching them differently... they just do not listen. Or they are too dumb to understand to NOT THROW HALF *** PASSES.

And that will do it, another blow out loss to an average team. We don't deserve to go to the tournament.

I’m still trying to figure out how some are able to continue disputing the “mentally weak” comments from earlier this week

I hate watching this team play as much as any team in any sport we have ever had. Nothing is more frustrating than watching an underachieving team.

And in true State fashion, in a "must-win" game situation, we **** the bed (and then promptly turn it over).

Hello, NIT!

Really incredible this team struggles as much as it does with as much talent as we have. The SEC is weak this year and we can’t even have a strong year in a down season for the league. So frustrating.

I know this will be blasphemous to some but I don’t really get into college baseball. I watch it some but it’s not a priority.

We have very little backcourt talent where it matters. Weatherspoon is an elite athlete but a poor shooter and mediocre ball handler. Carter can’t create his own shot, play defense, or handle the ball. Stewart showed some promise as a shooter, but still seems to be hot and cold also struggles defensively. We didn’t see enough from Molinar to know anything. No team with 4 mediocre guards ever makes the NCAA’s.

Ask yourself why every single team we play puts up a 1-3-1 after every made basket, and that’s your answer on why we suck. Guards struggle mightily to get it up the floor just playing keep away.

Well, if you want to watch Mississippi State SUCCEED at high levels, and not watch mediocrity at its finest, you better trade in Men’s basketball for baseball.

I think it’s great that theyre successful. Just like many don’t really follow the women’s basketball team because it’s not a priority for them and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

So if MSU were only good at track and field, you would get into it?

Most people follow sports they enjoy. My example assumes you arent some heptathlete geek. You dont seem like one to be fit or find interest in the javelin.

Carter creates his own shot a ton this year. It's actually been something great to see- his added ability to drive the lane and finish.
Stewart has been praised by multiple commentators for his excellent defense.
And not every team plays 1-3-1 against us after every made basket. I question if you know what that defense looks like.

Besides all that- good post.

I still don’t think the team is mentally weak. They will fight back and win a few more this season. Maybe even win one @USC that they shouldn’t. I associate the mentally weak part with just quitting after things don’t go their way. They started 0-3 in SEC play and won like four or 5 SEC games in a row including @UF after being down 17. They lost to a bad Ole Miss team. The next two games they fought hard and won @arky and vs a hot USC team. To me that doesn’t seem like they quit at all. So in the end I just don’t think they are mentally weak in that sense at all like some try to suggest.

They lack in the basketball IQ. You just can’t have 20+ turnovers a night and win every game.

All this thread needs is hailstate19 to tell us we are crazy and this team still has a shot*
Just finish 4 with more reg season wins and win 2 more in the SECT and make it to the championship game. Then we shall see.

Y’all do know it is baseball season, right?

I follow state baseball, but mostly after March madness is over with. It really really sucks state probably won’t be participating in March madness this year unless we pull a 2009 effort in the SEC tournament.
