For baseball, I am assuming we are on a pace to make Omaha 3 times per decade and have a slightly better than average 15% chance to win it all each time we make it. This would be a 38% chance to win it all within 10 years, 62% chance within 20 years, 76% chance within 30 years, 86% chance within 40 years, and 91% chance within 50 years.

Women’s Basketball more likely... we had our chance in Baseball when 98% of NCAA didn’t care about baseball and Polk couldn’t win it....now only about 80% of NCAA doesn’t care about baseball.

Florida State is holding on line 1 for you.

I personally believe within the next 10 years we will win a championship in baseball.

Baseball: yes
Football: no, not without serious reforms in rules to improve parity
Basketball: not likely, but possible. There is more parity in the sport than in a long time. Just need the right mix of coaches, players, and boosters.
W Basketball: has the right ingredients

I’m afraid my best chance to see it was WBB against ND. That one still hurts.

No simply because i think as soon as we are 99.9% likely to win it all the apocalypse will begin and stop the game

It’s a downright crying shame we (don’t care about ole miss but them too) are the only teams in the sec who haven’t won a natty in NOTHING!! I know ole miss claims one or two in football but nah. I just hope one day before I die that I will see us win one in SOMETHING! It’s a travesty we didn’t win one in baseball in ‘85 with that team and in ‘13. A real travesty we haven’t won at least one in the back to back years of women’s bb finals.Even freakin coastal Carolina won a natty in baseball. Coastal Carofreakinlina!!!

This game CRUSHES my soul more so than any game in the history of MSU athletics as regards to should have coupled with the stakes. Why? In my mind, it is a certainty that State wins that game atleast 6 out of 10 times. It’s just a low percentage that ND wins that damn game. SMDH for the rest of my life on that one.

We have an infinite horizon in baseball for a potential NC.

Women’s basketball...10-15 year horizon at most, unless Vic leaves for another job before then. In WBB there aren’t blue blood programs; there are blueblood coaches. And any chance we have of winning one leaves with Vic.

Men’s basketball....who knows. We came fairly close one time, never sniffed it before or since. Probably not ever breaking through there...only 2 SEC teams not named Kentucky have done it in 80 years.

Football....we are never winning one. In anyone’s lifetime.

WBB - a strong chance within the next 4-5 years.
Baseball - We will have a better than 30% chance of making it to Omaha most every year for the next 10 years. Depends on pitching at that point and YOU JUST NEVER KNOW.
MBB probably not. Not with our current coach or game atmosphere at the HUMP.
Football - even with the new playoff system, the national championship is kind of a crock without a 16-32 team playoff.
Would love to see us win an SEC Championship in football before I die. That would be meaningful.

But the last time we did, WWII broke out so....

Probably not...after all the Japan started our entry into WWII to stop us from going to the Rose Bowl. There is no limit to the actions that can and will be undertaken to stop us.

Baseball and women's basketball are the two major sports in which we can realistically win a national title in the near future. If I had to pick two sports to follow I would pick these.

Polk did have his chance but....

I'd say we are MUCH better shape now than in polks heyday. RP took us to the CWS 6 times in 29 years, finished no higher than 4th, and never made consecutive trips despite an era when it should have arguably been easier to make it. (I know, we made consecutive trips at the end of polk I and mcmahon) He took us to exactly 1 super regional in the 7 seasons where he had the opportunity.

Since then in the 11 seasons post-polk we have gone to 6 supers, three CWS, finished as high as #2 and have made consecutive trips with a darn good chance of making a third.

Don't get me wrong, I fully acknowledge that Ron Polk laid the foundation for where we are today but I think we are overall a MUCH better program with a much better chance to win a CWS title that we were in that era.

No way to know because so many things have to go right to win one. Only sports we have a legitimate chance in is either baseball or WBB (maybe tennis?). But just like 2 years ago when we almost certainly had the best women's basketball team we still couldn't pull it off in the end. I think the fact we've never won one actually puts more pressure on our teams when we get there which doesn't help.

I think the women's BB team is the one's that blew it. They were in the title game TWICE. The first time they got there by shocking the world taking down UConn but couldn't finish. Then the ND game that was essentially stolen by the zebras.
