Anybody else watching this XFL game? DC v Seattle. I mean for a bunch of NFL cast offs, and Vince in charge it has not been too bad so far. Just told the wife if they treat it like football, and not a wrestling promotion I will give it a chance.

Thoughts?

Looking good so far. Not sure on the weird kicking rules, I can see a lot of big run backs from that.

I like the new kickoff they have. I’m enjoying it to be honest! Dillion Day playing for SEA #50. Product on the field has been good so far! They’re allowing them to hit and play football! I like that the most! I’ll definitely continue watching.

ETA: Only seen one flag so far and that was offsides. I like the in game interviews so far. Winning team gets $100 grand makes them play harder IMO. Of course talking about this league not the NFL. Sure they get paid more per win.

Haven't seen any of it today, but I bet the quality will be much higher than the 2001 incarnation because the talent pool of 'very good but not NFL level' folks is bigger and they don't have to compete with Arena Football and NFL Europe.

I like the kickoff set up, they also have three different extra point set ups. One foot college catch rule. I definitely expected much more of a car wreck feel, but it feels like real football.

Offense being bad should be expected. Very little time to take all these guys that never played together and have a smooth machine.

It’s far from perfect, but it is exciting. It may burn out quick again, but I think we can all agree it is fun to see Dillon getting a chance again.

Go Boats!** It is better than watching a college basketball game that I don’t have a rooting interest in.

I mean Vince is the owner but he's not really in charge of the football side of things, Oliver Luck is.

Over/Under is 51.5

two teams who have never played a game. Score is 31-19 with 5:00 to go. Seattle fumbles on the 5. Vegas is good. Seriously, how do they predict these scores so accurately so many times?

I want the XFL to work. History says it won't but if they handle it like the USFL the first couple of years and don't try to compete head to head with the NFL maybe they have a chance.

Well, at least they use a normal looking football. Wasn't it the USFL that used a white football? And the Dicker stick for first down measurements?

Should they have put teams in non-NFL towns though?

I don’t know if it is part of their rules, but I have noticed they do not seem to be calling much helmet to helmet in either of the two games today. I am not trying to say that targeting should not be called, or trying to have that argument. It just seems to me there have been a few hits in both these games where I was like flag for sure right, or at least in college or the NFL it would have been targeting.

They won't try that. Their business plan is simple. Vince has already set aside enough money (375 million) to fully fund the league for 3 years. With networks clamoring for live sports, the hope is to become popular enough that at the end of those 3 years they get real money for broadcast rights and become profitable.

It's actually a good gamble. WWE is the least popular it has been in 25 years yet they just scored huge tv deals (265 million a year from USA, 205 million a year from FOX) because networks want live sports content.

The Houston QB is for real. He may get another NFL shot.

If Nick was going to ever try and convert to TE now is the time. But he may not have a choice in the matter.

I'll be watching XFL for sure. Teams are good enough to watch, and I'm just not a basketball fan.
I hope the league does well, seems to be off to a good start.
The live-mic on the coaches is a little weird, not sure if I like it or not. Different for sure, not sure if good or bad. But the games are fun so far.

Enjoyed the weekend when I had to come inside and turn on football... much better than basketball IMO

it got 10 minutes of my life that I cannot get back.

To each their own. I watched parts of all four games and enjoyed it more than any college basketball game I've watched this season.

Now with State baseball starting this weekend I'm not sure I'll watch as much Going forward, but I imagine I'll have the Sunday evening game on in the background more often than not.

I agree with you 100% It may not be for everyone, and the haters will always hate. I hate basketball outside of state games, so it gives me something to watch along with baseball stating soon. I can see myself catching at least one game a weekend. I also agree all things considered it isn’t the NFL or college football, but it is football on tv that I can actually watch in the spring.
