Anyone care to take a stab at our opening day lineup?

I figure the following are set but outside of that I’m not sure.

1B - Hatcher
2B - Foscue
SS - Westburg
CF - R. Jordan
RF - Allen

I’m guessing Luke Hancock at catcher. I’m also guessing landon Jordan has to fit in somewhere.

Seems like everything is locked in besides LF

1B Hatch
2B Fosc
3B K. James
SS Westburg
LF ? Hopefully Cumbest
CF Rowdey
RF Allen
C Hancock
P Ginn
DH Jordan ?

Whatever the lineup is, we should end up Top 3 in about every offensive category in the SEC.

I guess I missed it, but what happened to Hayden Jones, the freshman catcher from Indiana last year with the gun for an arm?

James and Jordan platoon at 3B (at least at the beginning).
Pimentel at DH but I expect a two or even three guys to DH.
LF is going to be interesting. It was sounding like Bryce Brock was making a strong push for it but he apparently hurt a hand or finger diving into a base last weekend. It was bad enough that he left.

When asked about left field, the first name out of Lemonis's mouth was Bryce Brock, followed by Drew McGowan, then Hunter French, then he said it was good to have Cumbest back from football "getting his feet wet". Third base, he said Kamren James and Landon Jordan. That's two guys who hit from the left side and two from the right in left field and a leftie and rightie at third, so I think we will see all of those guys play early in the season and unless somebody just gets super hot at the plate or plays poorly in the field, the starter for each game will probably depend on pitching match-ups.

ETA: Lemonis's comments were before the injury to Brock. No idea if that is serious.

I've been curious about Landon Jordan. He put up some good numbers last year (.328 in 61 ABs). I rarely hear his name in the mix as a starter, but he's been hitting well in scrimmages. Maybe his defense isn't where it needs to be or he doesn't have the same ceiling as others.

The thing about Cumbest...He's trying to get playing time on a team looking to make it to Omaha for the third season in a row. He's not going to swoop in after football season and immediately win a starting spot.

Fri- Ginn
Sat- MacLeoud
Sun- Cerentola

Bullpen- Carlisle Koestler who could move to Sunday if Cerentola isn't ready, Landon Sims I think will get a shot to close and Jack Eagan has looked good.

C- Hancock and Logan Tanner
1B- Hatcher
2B- Foscue
3B- Kamren James and Landon Jordan
SS- Westburg

LF- Cumbest and Brock
CF- Rowdey
RF- Allen
DH- Brandon Pimentel and if he struggles Landon Jordan or Cumbest probably.

Jared Shemper and Chase Patrick have also looked Ok coming out of the bullpen.

That’s a damn good lineup. They’re going to put up a lot of runs.

What’s the expectations from the Saturday and Sunday guys? I know Ginn will be a dominant Friday guy.

On that note - good grief the SEC has some dominant Friday night starters this year. Even more so than normal. Nikhazy was extremely good as a true freshman, and may not be a top half Friday night guy in the SEC this year. Ole Miss will face Ginn, Rocker (Vandy), Burns (AU), Hancock (UGA), Deitmers (Louisville) and I’m sure at least two more dominant arms I’m forgetting.

With Leach's stance on TEs, that may be likely...

Both receiver coaches said this week they would figure out a way to use the TE's if they could create mismatches, it's just at WSU they couldn't find those type of guys.

I think with the defense as spread out as they'll have to be to defend a Leach offense, there will be some opportunities for a good receiving TE if they want to take advantage of it.

If James starts at 3B, I can see Jordan as DH and Pimentel in LF. Got to have Pimentel's bat in the lineup the way he is hitting it this spring.

That’s good to hear. Would like to see Spivey and Cumbest matched up with LBs in an air raid.
