I like him in Dallas. They just need to pay him the market rate (as ridiculous as it may be).

Read the comments, lots of chatter from unbiased fans saying he isn't worth it. Somewhat surprises me people think this way, so I hope he leaves Dallas.

Reading Yahoo! Sports comments and applying reason to them are exercises in futility and stupidity.

I am a Dakota P fan, not a cowboys fan. Still, in the best interest of the Dallas franchise, Jerry should slap the franchise tag on Dak for one year and figure things out for the long term after seeing how Dak performs under the new coaching staff in 2020.

Dak just had probably the greatest season by a Dallas QB while Cooper reverted back to his Jekyl and Hyde self. Most games Gallup was his number 1 receiver while having a patchwork Oline. Zeke didn't have a great year although it was good. I guess leading the league in offense isn't good enough for Cowboys fans. The biggest issue was Garrett going conservative in games and the defense having injuries they couldn't overcome.

You really think that will change with another team? Half the saints fan on saints' board I read want to move on from Drew Brees if he costs 25 per

The question a lot of those same people keep ignoring is... what is the alternative? A player’s value isn’t only about what they can do. It’s also about the team’s plan B

Right now, plan B would either be Cooper Rush, burning another valuable draft pick on a QB, or going after someone like Bridgewater or Mariota. I mean, it’s possible that they can go another cheaper route and still win games next year, but I’m of the mindset that you just never let a young Top 10 QB go once you have one. It’s just too risky

How he performs under the new staff? He’s gonna have the exact same OC. The whole “wait and see” thing is stupid after a 4-year body of work clearly establishes him as a Top 10 QB in the league. Jerry needs to pay the man.

Cam newton (Trade), rivers, Brady, Winston, or maybe trade up for tua. Not saying they should, but there's some options

I don't disagree at all. Dallas stupidly overpaid for Zeke. That might lead them to be cautious with Dak and make him a franchise player for 2020 and figure things out from there. Either way,
barring a serious injury in 2020, Dak will get a long term contract with some NFL franchise. More importantly, Dak will rake in millions upon millions of dollars for the 2020 season even if it's on the franchise tag. It would be best to sign a multi year contract now, but agents might get in the way. We will see.

Dak may not be Patrick Mahomes but he is still a top 10 NFL QB and the current salary structure says he should get around 30 million a year.....minimum. I would love to see Dak leave Dallas and watch them proceed to go 3-13 without him, if they are lucky.

Dak would fit in so well with the Titans and their run game. Also, if Garropolo was not already there the Niners offense would really show off Dak's skillset.

Tannehill just led the nfl in passer rating. The titans will lock him up

Wow. I’m honestly shocked. I only watched him play a little bit this year. I was not impressed. Didn’t he throw for less than 100 yards in each of the first 2 playoff games?

That’s one total unknown in Tua and 4 guys who are all (at present time) both worse and older than Dak. Terrible list of replacements for a 26 year old Top 10 QB.

Tua can’t make it through a full college season healthy. The hits won’t get softer. He is a huge gamble. I know you’re not saying he is a better option, just an option. I wouldn’t touch it.

If they don’t take care of Dak after throwing what they did at Elliott, I would love to see them go 3-13 without him as well.

I get it's a business, but it's really hard for me to imagine Dak holding out.

Well, it's going to happen if they tag him. There's already been talk if it. He just had one of the best seasons in Cowboys history. His agent knows the drill.

I think Dak will sign with Dallas, reason is the huge market value it brings. He could get so much more money from endorcements than most any other city in the Nfl. Winning is important but the future is about money and the money he is making now is crazy. In saying this he deserves a huge payday, I have no idea what his true value is except the dude is a quality leader for the Cowboys.

If there’s ever been an athlete in NFL history who couldn’t be blamed for holding out, it’s Dak. He’s delivered 67 games worth of high end production for a grand total of $4 million in total compensation.

For comparison, Jimmy Garropolo made 25% of Dak’s career earnings (or a full season’s worth of Dak’s money) for the 8 passes he threw last Sunday. It’s absolutely comical.

That’s a two way street. Dak is getting money from endorsements because he’s a marketable athlete, and will be a marketable athlete whereever he goes. He’s been in 10x the amount of TV commercials as Tony Romo was when he was there. He’s also been in far more ads than Zeke or Amari. That alone makes him more valuable to Dallas, because he adds to the brand. He isn’t in these commercials just because he’s the QB for the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees have a lot of pull, don't underestimate either team market value.

Just saying.

True, but you still never had Tony Romo appearing in spots for DirecTV, Campbell’s soup, Oikos yogurt, Pepsi, etc. all at the same time. Like I said, two way street. Dallas benefits from Dak and Dak benefits from Dallas.

I’m aware Romo was in some commercials.

The two you posted are individual ads that aired 7 years apart.
Nothing compared to the 5 or 6 companies Dak is currently repping nationally just right now.

Again, Dak’s marketing clout is way more than Romo ever thought about having. And he was / is a pretty marketable guy in his own right so that is saying something.

I would guess Romo and Dak had similar marketing clout. Romo's Starter 10 million dollar endorsement deal was big. He also had Pizza Hut, Directv, AT&T, Under Armour, Panni, Topps, GEICO.....

Bottom line is being America's QB is worth millions. You don't see Wentz & Goff getting all these TV commercials/endorsements and they have both led their team to the Super Bowl.

Wentz never lead a team to the Super Bowl....has a career playoff record of 0-1. Goff did, but has been pretty inconsistent for a good portion of his career.

And if we’re being real, Dak has certain demographic attributes that make him quite attractive as a marketing asset. Fair or not, pretty much all ad execs look at that sort of thing.
