Texas Tech has averaged a lower recruiting class ranking since Mike Leach left than what they averaged with him there. And from 2000-2012 WSU averaged a worse class than what they averaged for the last eight years Leach was there. Although Leach didn’t recruit highly to either of these schools, maybe we should pump the brakes on the “Leach is a ****** recruiter” narrative. Maybe his two previous schools are just hard as hell to recruit to. And I realize Starkville isn’t the easiest place to get kids to come to, but if Leach can just keep us around our average recruiting rankings from years past (like he did at his previous two schools) then I think we’ll have more than enough talent to win football games.

I hear you, but if he’s constantly having to go against Kiffin, Durkin, Pat Austin and Terrel Buckley - he’s going to have his hands full.

If everything I have read is correct about Leach, he relishes the role of underdog. Lives for it..This had to have played into his reason for coming to MSU, as we have a history of being the most underdog school ever. If he can turn this program into a perennial winner, he deserves a statue and whatever else we can give him :)

This is true both programs were difficult to recruit to and geographically isolated. Leach still won. I think he is in a talent hotbed now and it doesn’t hurt that he has established ties in California and texas

Pat Austin will be in an office and Buckley isn’t a good recruiter and an average coach. He’s got the Sabanesque recruiting mythos that is such bull ****. What stars did Buckley get for us? Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
What about when Durkin gets asked by a kids mom about killing a kid?
Kiffin hasn’t ever been a recruiter. He’s a 17ing weirdo. His twitter persona and his real life persona don’t match. Watch him on camera. It’s like someone else runs his twitter for him.

Chill out.

I swear, some of you can't stand anyone being excited. Note to Meridian dog, "If he can turn this program into a perennial winner" and put one up of him "already" are not the same thing. I am pumped about this hire and all the negative nellies out there should try to be happy and excited once in awhile...it sure makes life go better :)

You forgot about Chris Partridge who is an elite recruiter...on the surface this don’t look good at all

Apparently so, and I guess we're supposed to be afraid of OM. The Lane Train got me shaking in my flops.

We are going to continue to recruit around 25 as always. If anything we might get a few ticks higher to around 22. But I dont expect a big dropoff or increase.
