CB - McBath (WSU)
S - Hughes (retained)
ST - Matt Brock (WSU)

So far he’s retained Tony Hughes and given his staff from WSU a raise. Interesting

Reading Leach’s book now, and this isn’t surprising. He says that he regretted keeping two coaches from the previous staff when he took over at Texas Tech.

I don’t have the energy to look into the truth of this statement, but I feel like that’s some of stuff you have to accept when you hire a P5 coach. Which is what we all wanted. I’ll reserve judgement until we see the production on the field. It doesn’t concern me too much though.

This. Every one of our fans need to read his New York Times best selling book. He explains a lot of his reasonings behind every decision he makes. Every decision is extremely calculated. He knows what he’s doing y’all chill.

I don't understand why so many are so concerned about keeping any1 from a staff that underachieved. Not to start a bash Joe post, but it wasnt just Moorehead. Hughes is the only one I would've considered keeping. Scrub that **** clean.

Yeah it's not uncommon for a coach to scrub the program clean that had a disciplinarian issue. Clean house so that no players feel like they will get easy treatment like Mullen carrying a lot of his guys and bringing back in some guys like turner. He knows his guys and they know what he expects. Hughes was the only non negotiable on our staff. I suspect he will make s decent not great dc hire. It took Mullen more than few seasons to get the dc right. It will take leach some adjusting.

Sounds like Phelps (DL) & McBath (secondary) are following Leach to MSU as well.

Phelps is ok. McBath...well, we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm a little "meh" on any of WSU's defensive coaches.

I'm surprised by this. I though the DC would have input on his assistants since he has autonomy of the defense.

i think we have to trust leach here. I mean he’s no idiot. He’s actually a genius. If he wants McBath and Phelps then we should all want McBath and Phelps. I was excited about the hire when we made it but after reading his book im ******* stoked. it’s about to be really fun.
