Do we even run an offense scheme?

First, no im not advocating getting rid if Howland. But damn, we dont really have an offensive plan. I was hopeful for this team but it doesn't look good. Maybe we'll be better second half

We’ve spent nearly a decade building the program back to where Stans had it.

Honestly, that’s good enough for me.

Yes

throw it up, or drive the lane, which often consist of a turnover, or missed shot,

I got blasted about a month ago, because I questioned our team play,.... well this was what I speaking of.

Speaks for itself eventually.

(But we have better players than we show)

Nah it’s more fun to shoot contested shots than move the ball and shoot some open shots. Working out really well for this group. I think you get 5 points for hitting the front of the rim because we are killing it tonight.

We take some gosh awful shots. And have major mental breakdowns defensively.

Yep, they have to at least actually run the offense without the usual 17 up in the middle or start of an offensive set before you can say we don't have an offense.

We play so sloppy you can't see if we have an offensive set.

Is it just me or have we always been terrible at making and catching passes three feet from the basket?

Back to where Stands had it? You mean when he went to the NCAAT 4 out of 5 years? When he won the conference? Was winning SECTs? Elaborate please.

No, the part where he had top ten talent all over the floor and let them run up and down jacking the ball up at their leisure while seemingly running no semblance of a recognizable offensive scheme period.

I'm really enjoying this 15 minute breakdown of the Clemson/LSU game during our broadcast. It's about time that game got some discussion.

Does it look like anyone is interested in playing for more than 8 seconds on any stretch at the same time?

Top ten talent? Lmao. I don’t even know what that means.

We show up about 8 minutes per half....maybe.
Offensive Scheme? That’s a thing?

Basketball has same issue as football—no discipline and no one trying to teach it. It’s all about letting them do what they want to keep them happy.

Good lord, getting blown out by this Bama team with our tourney hopes basically on the line is pathetic.

Great assessment. We have players not a team

If Woodard were to break Nicks face in a fight would IB fire Howland...can’t remember being more frustrated watching a BB team. But I haven’t watched a lot of MSU hoops in the last decade.

It’s offensive we are this bad with this much overall natural talent on one team.
What a freaking wasted season unfolding already.

If only someone had warned us of Howland’s lack of schematic adjustments back in 2016, maybe, just maybe we could have done something about it...sigh, oh well.

Well I've tried to tell people as well. Unfortunately there's a disease among our fan base that prevents a person from recognizing potential problems before they happen. And I'm afraid we're about to make the same type of decision in another sport.

Bingo. We are eternal optimists even as the walls start falling in on us. We become a fountain of excuses instead of taking a hard look in the mirror.

It’s more like when a company or institution is dealing with millions of dollars, you never do anything drastic and have to be 100% confident in your decisions.

Jeremy Pruitt was a great example this year.

Here's what I've surmised in 5 games:

Offense

1) Chemistry is off. Not sure if Weatherspoon's availability has anything to do with that
2) It looks like we're always trying to close in on the basket but we often fail to make the extra pass
3) We have a tendency to look a "pick-up game" team that has poor shooters
4) Too many turnovers

Defense

1) Probably the core strength of the team, when they decide to have enough energy to play it
2) Are in the awkward stage of committing lots of fouls but don't play "physically" consistently to throw an opponent off balance

Overall - We play good in stretches but can't seem to put 2 halves together against better opponents. Both SEC losses were disappointing, and that's considering that Auburn is (supposedly) #5 and that Bama was a road game. Starting out 0-2 right out of the gate makes a tougher row to hoe.
