Looking like maybe Friday night into Saturday across Mississippi.

Latest Euro still showing it crossing MS during the daylight hours Saturday. GFS is consistently faster with it coming in during the overnight hours Friday into Saturday. Really hoping the Euro verifies. Nighttime severe weather, and possible tornadoes, are a nightmare. Everybody is alseep and almsot impossible to see while out chasing. Especially if they are rainwrapped. Basically waiting on lightning or power flashes.

They've been talking about this one on the weather boards since last week. I hope it fizzles out but it looks like there are a lot of dynamics in place.

It may be a long severe season this year.

Day 7 areas are rare (Between 0-6 each year), but Day 7 areas in January are even more rare. If my search through our archives is correct, this is only the 4th Day 7 area issued in January. pic.twitter.com/ubFn8vWE9g— Evan Bentley (@evan_bentley) January 5, 2020

There some models that look wicked for Saturday morning. Still time to maybe change but it looks rough.

I thought it was strange this morning on the local news that they were warning of a severe weather outbreak for the weekend, 5 days in advance. Great...

Many, and perhaps most, late Decembers-Januarys-Februarys don't even have a thunderstorm, let alone several bouts of severe weather. We're having really strange weather this winter.

Jackson NWS now saying models starting to come into agreement on timing which is Saturday afternoon. Also now saying, while still several days out, this could be a significant severe weather event.

While we will be getting some nasty we should be spared the worst of it. Friday afternoon and evening east texas and lousiana will get pounded pretty hard. It will start affecting mississippi beginning in the morning on saturday and should be cleared by lunch. the morning is the time that you want it to cross because that it when it is at its weakest due to the lack of convection from the sun being down. Alabama is going to get hit pretty hard on saturday afternoon / night. That is the projection as of now. If it speeds up or slows down that is subject to change.

The GFS is trash but hopefully it pans out and the euro comes around.
Having been directly affected by one on the worst tornadoes in Mississippi history, I hope none of it pans out. I hope y'all never get to chase again.
