Why would our administration hire Napier over Hudspeth?

Honestly curious? To me it makes no sense. But I’d like to hear the real reason for it

Also if that was it, then why would they have rehired him to be on our coaching staff at all? That doesn’t make sense

If they would rehire him for the staff, then why wouldn’t they hire him as head coach? If that were the reason then why put him on staff?

B/C Hudspeth is on the FCS level. And he went 15-22 his last 3 years at ULL before being fired to hire Napier. And he hired the guy that got them put on probation.

1. Mullen didnt hire Hud. Byrne did
2. He was hired before his Ulala tenure

Pretty sure Saunders was hired before his ulala tenure. And you’re right. Byrne did hire Hud. So Byrne probably wasn’t qualified.

I get you are just trying to be funny but hud was hired before he ever had ncaa trouble. And hud brought saunders to ulala

Compare the two resumes. There is no question that Hud has the better resume than Napier. Napier only has two years of head coaching under his belt and he did so using Hud’s players. Hud has won everywhere he’s been and has done so for much longer than Napier.

There’s no question that Hud is who we should get. I’m over a decade now into realizing that’s not what we will do. But we still should. But we won’t.

Again. Not totally against Hud but success below the FBS level just isn't impressive. Athleticism is totally different and you can scheme around opponents. Its why moorhead killed it at Fordham. Well that and he had scholarships two years before the rest of the conference

But didn’t they pass on him before any of that also?

Only time we could have hired Hud before the NCAA stuff he got into at ULL was when we hired Mullen. Most thought a jump from UNA to MSU as HC was a leap too far at the time.

Incorrect. Moorhead killed it at Fordham because he had the only program in his league that offered athletic scholarships in a deal Fordham worked out where they agreed to not be eligible for the conference championship.

Joe's teams at Fordham were full of scholarship players going against other school's walk-ons.

Little different when being hired as a TE coach. I personally would be good with hiring Hud myself though if we think he is the guy that gives us the best chance being successful going forward.

And i edited to add that in my post. He had a two year advantage. But nonetheless you can scheme so much easier at those levels it just shouldnt move the needle. I mean am inreally supposed to be impressed with winning at winston academy?
