There is just not a lot out there....with Rhule most likely going to NFL, that could put us in bidding war with Baylor.... I just don’t see Cohen winning any kind of bidding war.... this makes me think we end up with Hudspeth/Grantham....

I get your point. But wouldn’t you rather see either of those two than JoMo a third year?

If you are setting your sights on someone like Rhule, Fleck, Campbell, etc. then yeah you are going to be disappointed. There is zero chance we get a sitting Power 5 head coach on the rise. But there are still good coaches out there who would be just what we need.

Is there ever a good year to be looking for a sitting head coach? Right now we would be the only job available. Until Rhule actually leaves Baylor, then we are the only opportunity for anyone. If we keep Moorhead for another year, who is to say that other programs who might be considered to be better jobs won't come open. Just looking at the top 10 on coacheshotseat.com (which is I realize is not always reflective of real life), you have Texas, Arizona, South Carolina, Michigan State, Nebraska, Miami, and UCLA that might come open. I realize that we would not necessarily be all looking for the same type of coaches, but we could potentially be low on the pecking order then too. You don't keep a coach just because it might be hard to replace him. Is taking a chance on Napier, Hud, or any of the other names being thrown around worse than another year of Moorhead? I don't think so.

Completely agree. Also, coaches moving from one P5 job to another doesn’t happen as often as you’d think, and it’s usually a big step up or an ungodly salary. The last two seasons haven’t even had a P5 to P5 transition. 2017 had Dan to UF, Taggart from Oregon to FSU and Jimbo to A&M. Then you have to go back to 2014 when Nebraska grabbed Mike Riley from Oregon State, 2013 saw Franklin to PSU, Sarkasian to USC, 2012 Bielema to Arky.

All if that is to say Rhule, Campbell etc. ain’t happening.
