Judging by all the threads and posts of our fans saying and rationalizing how it won’t work, 75% of this board is scared shitless over him.
They made a good hire. He’s a good coach. He’ll be a good recruiter. We don’t know what his staff will be, but that mf’er is connected.
Stop acting like it’s not a good hire and will go up in flames. This ain’t 2009 Kiffen. Ole Miss just raised the bar.
Let’s get through this bowl game and see if we can gain a little momentum going into 2020

The downvoted to the post are at a 1-7 ratio, so I guess I was a little off. 86% of you are being pussies about the hire.

To me, the silver lining is that Cohen needs to stop being a *****.

They made serious runs at Norvell & Kiffin. Plus, the rumored coordinators sound like a couple more $MMs. If we go into another search next year, and the candidates are all coordinators under $3MM salary, Cohen will have some questions to answer.

I don’t know about scared but I definitely think they’ll get a boost from this hire, even if just to re-energize the fanbase.

Their timing is very good as far as injecting hope and excitement into their fans precisely at the time our fanbase is growing more and more apathetic or disappointed, which is part of the reason an Egg Bowl loss might not have been the worst thing for us.

Most State posters across multiple boards appointed Norvell or Napier the savior of MSU football.

Many of these posters are the same ones who are shitting on the Kiffin hire and saying he’ll be a failure.

If you compare the resumes of all 3, I’m not sure how you can think Napier and Norvell are awesome while Kiffin sucks.

I hate Ole Miss more than anyone, but the hate blinds some of our fans.

Odds are whoever they hired was going to do better than their last 3 years. The network was going to ramp up no matter what.

They made a good hire. Decent

He’s a good coach. Pretty good

He’ll be a good recruiter. Except he's not

We don’t know what his staff will be, but that mf’er is connected. To who?

Stop acting like it’s not a good hire and will go up in flames. Very good possibility.

This ain’t 2009 Kiffen. No because it's 2019

Ole Miss just raised the bar. What bar?

Let’s get through this bowl game and see if we can gain a little momentum going into 2020. I hope

Agree on giving them energy and hope. While we are divided.

I think this is a really fair response. The State fans that are freaking out over the hire are being ridiculous and are insecure. And the Ole Miss fans that are screaming how Ole Miss just got Urban Meyer are ridiculous and delusional.

My take on this is that it gives Ole Miss some momentum and solidarity that absolutely didn’t have before. It gives us some excitement. And those things matter, whether we/you pretend they do or not. It’s also a high risk, high reward hire. There’s things there that you could absolutely see blowing up. There’s also things there where you could see it being a great hire and Ole Miss being on the national radar 2-3 years from now. But, the timing was right for this type of hire.

And, best I can tell, that’s where most State fans are at. They want (wanted?) their athletic department to make a high risk, high reward move. Because, despite State winning 8 and 6 games under Moorhead, they don’t feel like there’s a lot of momentum going forward. So, why delay what is the, expected to be, inevitable?

With all that said, momentum does not always equal success or sustainability. In fact, in the history of both of our programs, momentum is short lived. So, who knows how it’ll all play out?

I most definitely think Ole Miss has a better coach today than they did on Thanksgiving (low bar), and they 100% have more excitement throughout the fanbase. So, it’s only natural for State fans to be a little irritated (God knows I would be if situation was reversed), but for a fan of either side to claim this has greatly shifted the paradigm is just that fan being either too insecure, or too delusional. Odds are, we’ll be right back here 12 months, 24 months, 36 months, and on and on arguing about the exact same things.

Haha. Yeah, we are scared of a guy who couldn’t win at an all time Top 5 program, and went .500 in the weak *** SEC east. Get out of here with that BS. He’ll surround himself with enough sleazy recruiters to get some talent in there, but the best case scenario for OM is that he leaves a full cupboard for the next guy.

I was personally hoping like hell they would be dumb enough to hire RichRod. They weren’t, but this is easily the next best thing.

You couldn't be more wrong. Is it a name hire? Yes.

Will OM be ALL IN on recruiting..NCAA be damned? Yes.

The SEC West will still be unkind to him.

The difference is Kiffen has proven he isn’t good. He’s been mediocre to bad at every major job he’s ever had....two different Power 5 jobs and one NFL job. He’s had NCAA reprimands and a plethora of public embarrassments, including Saban basically kicking him the 17 out of town in the middle of the CFP and not letting him coach in the national championship game after he was dicking around after landing the FAU gig. What has he accomplished as a head coach at FAU that overrides all that?

I think Kiffin and his coordinators will be above average recruiters (which is really all OM fans seem to care about), but at BEST they'll string together an 8, maybe 9 win season. That'll all be short lived though because I really feel like OM is about to get incredibly stupid going after these primadonna recruits, and it's gonna bite them again. Big-time recruits to OM are like poppy fields to a heroin addict...they will do anything just to get that 5-star fix.

He will make a big splash, the Ole Miss media will be jizzing all over the place, sell a bunch of tickets, have one or two good seasons then leave in embarrassing fashion that won’t be a good look.....and you know Ole Miss is all about the look.

I knew you could do a 2nd mortgage on your home but I didn't know that you could sell your soul for a 2nd time...but that's what Ole Miss just did.

Recruiting?
Yes, they will be lights out on recruiting / cheating. By choosing Kiffin they have shown their cards, NCAA be damned, bring in the red gym bags and the whores, full steam ahead.

Wins & Losses?
Ole Miss will win, they are going to go to bowl games, their Offense will be awesome...but they are not winning the SEC or even the SEC West, but I do see them upsetting Alabama and LSU a time or two. They will be media darlings / media whores once again. Expect to see Katy Perry or Kim Kardashian with the ESPN Gameday folks in the Grove.

Scandal and NCAA troubles?
HELL YES! Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. But there will be no pretending to be a preacher man as a cover while cheating and being sleazy in the background...Kiffin is a brash and bold sinner.

Overall Summary.
The next 2-3 years (2020 - 2022) will be good for Ole Miss and not so good for MSU. Then the 2-3 years after that (2023 - 2025) will see Ole Miss crash once again and suffer some public humiliation. Lather - Rinse - Repeat. The cycle will start over again.

Go Budaw for the WIN!!

Some folks need to take a chill pill on here.
Kiffin is an upgrade over Luke (and who wouldn’t be) but this is only a so-so hire. Nothing overly special about him. This may have been the best hire they could’ve made. IF Kiffin has a couple of back to back 6-6 and 7-5 seasons he’ll move on to a better gig.

I’m glad someone else sees the hypocrisy in it
When scared or embarrassed, some people’s natural reaction is to deflect and make fun. This has been our fan bases defense mechanism

Haha, well, I guess you might be right about Ole Miss fans, because hell I’ll take it! 2020-2022 weren’t going to be real fun with Matt Luke I don’t imagine.

The one key thing you’re forgetting is that Kiffin knows how to play the game. He’s learned from the masters. Carroll - Saban - Orgeron. Freeze learned from, well, himself.

This is absurd. I'm not scared of Kiffin in the least. He's a complete fraud. I was prepared to laugh at any school that hired him, and it just happened to be UMiss.

The only pussies around here are the ones who think Kiffin is going to be successful. Sure, he is better than Luke and he will get the fan base energized. In two years, he will not have accomplished much on the field, and he will embarrass them off it.

Orgeron pulled most of the good recruits at USC and TN for Kiffen. He’ll be recruiting against Orgeron now.

Look, he may turn out great for OM, I don't really know. But what I do know is that he couldn't get a HC job and had to go back to being a coordinator for a while at Bama. And then when he did finally get another HC opportunity it was in CUSA for multiple years. He has been available for any P5 team to hire as a HC since 2013 but nobody wanted him. But now, just because OM goes and hires him we are supposedly scared shitless? What I do know is that there have been a LOT of P5 HC jobs come open and be filled since 2013 that were not offered to Lane Kiffin.

If you cut through the crap he can coach offense, recruit (cheat), and talk **** with the best of them. I don’t think he’s a very good organizer, or discipline coach. He’s a big risk, he never stays long, and hasn’t accomplished much in his career other than Layla.

He didn’t do crap at the raiders, tenn, USC, and has done well at FAU.

He’s got no integrity or character so he fits perfectly for them. I feel like the NCAA will be watching them even closer hiring him....but that doesn’t mean dick. The NCAA might as well be the Mexican government.....as they say in texas - all hat and no cattle.
