Not going to sell alcohol in the stadium again next year. Completely tone deaf on that situation. Worst home schedule in the last 30 years with zero excitement in the program and everyone else in our state is making extra hundreds of thousands in revenue off office but not us.

Not sure I would’ve confessed that about the alcohol sales just yet. Even if it wasn’t in the plans, that announcement could’ve waited for a later date when you don’t have as many disgruntled fans as you do right now.

COHEN: I don’t think myself or Dr. Keenum would take anything off the table. I can tell you this. The number one goal for Mark Keenum, and quite frankly for John Cohen, is safety of our student-athletes and of our coaches and of our fans. Safety is very, very important to us.

This is one of the most chicken **** answers I’ve ever heard. THEYRE DRINKING HARD LIQOUR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE STADIUM ALREADY. You don’t want to do it, fine. But don’t lie with some chicken **** answer when every premium seating locker is really a bar. I’d disagree but I’d respect him saying, “We’re a family atmosphere and I think not serving alcohol helps us maintain and recruit to that family atmosphere”. I’d accept that. But don’t piss down my leg and tell me it’s raining.

No. He just doesn’t care. All he cares about is himself and Joe. This is about to get ugly.

That interview made me want to throw up in more ways than one. He is lost. You don’t give a response like he did on alcohol sales. That was horrendous.

Safety? John, you made the call 15 minutes before the Egg Bowl to let the entire security line flow into the stadium without being checked. 50% of the people in attendance walked right through the security checkpoint without our bags being checked at all.

Maybe someone else made that call you say? Well a call that important damn sure better have been made by you. And you are worried about safety huh?

Thanks for listening to us.

Further proof I’m going to enjoy getting rid of my 4 season tickets.

Someone else can go and enjoy reliving our highlights on the video board of beating Bama in 1980 and kicking a field goal against USM whenever that happened. And as an added bonus, next season can feature the piss and miss. Great times. Literally that’s the MSU game day fan experience.

There’s a 90% chance I keep my season tickets next year because I’m “a good fan” or whatever. But I have seriously questioned whether or not to renew. If people like me are questioning whether or not to renew, then John has a serious problem.

He should literally be doing everything in his power to keep fans like me involved. He’s just not doing that.

John is a great ad! Our teams are having great success! **

Never mind your fan experience has tanked at most sports. The seating at the new dude was a mess last season for non season ticket holders. He makes promises in public he can’t cash in on for coaching hires. He botched the Moorhead extension last year. He has handled the Moorhead situation poorly this year. He hasn’t handled marketing and media well at all. All of that has take a step back. His other hires in other sports non named baseball have been mediocre to not great. Not exactly sure why people like him except that he went to school at state and was a good baseball coach. He is vastly inexperienced with running an entire athletics department and all the things outside or coaching. He continues to show that with his decisions and his rambling all over the place reaching messages in interview with coach speak. He doesn’t know how to run the business, pr, marketing, money decisions to build the brand. Why do you like him Him as an ad? He only listens to a select group of boosters. He is tone deaf to the average to low end booster and the rest of the fans.

It’s so dumb. It’s like the argument against the lottery but it has already made a butt load of money. Free money for the university and John is just like whatever.

For the record, I don’t think there was anything necessarily wrong about anything he said in this interview. I think he’s an easy target right now and people are piling on a bit with their frustrations. And I do get that most are going to disagree with our stance on alcohol sales, because I’m not sure what the holdup is either,

In regard to his comments about Joe, what do you want him to say? We made the decision to keep him another year. He will be an employees at MSU for at least another 11-12 months. He’s not going to publicly throw the guy under the bus, he’s going to try to show a united front, as he should. I’m not sure about extending him myself, but I don’t think that hinders our ability to fire him next year should that be necessary.

Jiminy Christmas. Mississippi learns absolutely nothing from its past. Once again we’ll be the last place with a “dry” stadium on game days, while the rest of the country uses common sense.

It was the same with many things over the years. Last to the dance. Same with the lottery..it’ll be the same with cannabis...how about once Mississippi gets out in front of an eventuality instead of being dragged to the party?

Such a mindset of fear. It’s ridiculous.

Didn’t have to have them until next year, but Cohenton gladly let us “get ahead of the curve” on entry scanners, which provide zero revenue but tons of costs, and then look like an Oktibehha County commissioner in 1978 on beer sales in DW, which BTW, would easily offset the gate entry added costs. We are MSU!!

I like John, but I honestly don’t feel comfortable with him handling the South end zone expansion. It’ll be half-assed, and we’ll be stuck with it forever. He had a vested interest in the Dude. Not so much Davis Wade. Wasn’t a big fan of the idea of sticking a Holiday Inn Express down there in the SEZ. Gonna end up looking like Vaught Hemingway. Like nothing matches or has continuity, and was just thrown together.

I don’t think Cohen is the one making the decision on alcohol. He has a boss and I believe he has a hard line on beer sales.

You can’t blame all of our issues on John, lots to go around.
Keenum is absolutely 100% the reason we do not have beer sales in the stadium. John can’t override his boss. I don’t necessarily agree with the decision but I do believe Keenum is possibly the best president MSU has ever had and I’m willing to give him a pass on one bad (in my opinion) decision.

I know I’m not doing season tickets next year....and it has nothing to do with beer sales. It was fun to go to MSU Football games, but the product on the field combined with the fan experience is just not worth it.

Cohen’s “word of the day”: intricate.

As used in a sentence: “John Cohen said the word, intricate, three times in the span of 10 seconds.”

People in positions like his don’t have the luxury of saying whatever they want to say like we do here.

I’m sure you already know that, but maybe not.

Unfortunately contract extensions are a necessary evil in the current landscape of college athletics. If you don’t do it, it is a red flag saying “if you want to play for that coach, don’t commit to that school”.

Is Keenum also the reason our home grown National Media member at Barstool no longer has media credentials at MSU? TONE DEAF....whoever is making these dumbass decisions.

I suspect that the readership of SixPackSpeak might actually not be in line with the majority of season ticket holders re: alcohol sales at the stadium. I, for one, don't give a rip either way. If they sold beer, I wouldn't buy it. I drink, but I'm not going to buy an overpriced beer at a sporting event just so I can spend more time in the line for the Templeton Troughs.

Are you saying that Brandon Walker requested media credentials after he started at Barstool and was denied? Why in the world would we have done that?

FYI: Cohen had little to do with the baseball expansion. That was spearheaded by Stricklin. Then the architects took it from there.

Well, he was the coach. I'd say he was in on the decision.

Plenty of other reasons to bash Cohen. Don't just make up stupid crap.
