He has the exact same record as Mullen did in his first 25 games and he also has the exact same record as Mullen did in his last 25 games. Is Mullen a failure?? It's actually kinda a damn miracle that Moorhead is keeping pace with Mullen despite having 10,000 internet trolls all over his *** trying to make him leave and make things as difficult as possible for him to succeed here.

Are people really this dumb?

Mullen inherited a 4-8 team from Croom that lost 45-0 in their last game.

Moorhead inherited a 9-4 team from Mullen that beat Lamar Jackson in the bowl game.

What is your best guess as to...

what Mullen’s record would be in 2018 and 2019, assuming he had not left for Florida?

2018 - 10-2, with losses to Bama and probably LSU....

2019 - 8-4, maybe even 9-3. Auburn, LSU, and Bama would been losses for sure. I could have seen Mullen will all the others.

Moorhead is not failing, but he is underachieving for sure.

I go back and forth. By record 2018 was a letdown and 2019 was at the very last iota of acceptability. 6-6 transition years come about pretty regularly. So you say okay, 2020 is where the rubber meets the road and you should see improvement. But on the other hand we’re 25 games into his career and there’s not something that Moorhead can hang his hat on. There is no momentum within the program on either side of the ball and the offense just feels as lifeless and unimaginative as anything in the college football landscape. And it’s not hard to say that this is it. There is no training montage coming. Things might just look like this for 12 more games and then it’s December 2020 and we’re still right here having the same conversations.

Wait, you are defending the coach that wanted absolutely no part of playing your favorite QB? He brought in a transfer and spent time during last season trying to get Kelly Bryant to play over KT, that’s the coach you want to defend? Really? That’s a dichotomy of a take.

I am so tired of people feeding me statistics that dont prove my point. If you just look you can see this is the worst State team in history. It has never been this bad. Joe has completely destroyed this SEC juggernaut and perennial top 25 team. I dont care if we win the game I only care how we look doing it. I refuse to accept this. Wah wah. No wonder Joe said you babies can all pound sand.

Croom left the roster much better than he found it. Especially when you factor in the commitment list too.

The message boards are not readable any more. Moorhead is staying at least another year. Why can't people get this through their thick skulls. You don't run the athletic department. Get behind our players and coaches.

You think after 3 weeks of bitching and moaning you would have got it out of your system.

This debate has been ongoing since late September of 2018. Started with Kentucky and will not end until Moorhead is not our coach.

It is pointless speculation, but my best guess is

2018: 9-3. Mullen would have lost to Kentucky, too. Although you also have to remember that any season that Mullen won 8 or more games, he lost to UMiss. So, as hard as it is to fathom, he may very well have lost to the landsharks in 2018.

2017: 6-6, because that's what Mullen did whenever he lost his Senior QB.

This is my favorite. What our fans don’t realize is the SEC has a conference is worse than it was when Mullen went out in full add to that our team talent wise was way better under Moorehead’s first year. Morehead got the benefit of a weaker conference with better players and still lost five games

Agreed. This argument is so idiotic. Especially when you consider the 8 years prior to Mullins we were 29-65 with one bowl game and the 8 years before joe we were 64-39 with 8 bowls.

Its like focusing on two drivers logging the same lap time but ignoring the fact that one guy was given a late model corvette and the other a 20 year old corolla.

This. This. This.
People who can’t see the middle are dumb.

People who even think to compare him to Croom are really dumb and think they are smart which makes them dumber.

Is he doing as good as Mullen would have done those 2 seasons? No. But i expected some issues putting in a new offense. Is is slower than I hoped or than it should be? Yes I think so.

But it’s not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

People who can’t handle their emotions are dumb.

Are you for real?? Did Mullen's first two teams include the best defense in college football? Did Mullen get to face a UPig as bad as the one Joe has? Tennessee? Ole Miss?

I don’t think there’s much to compare with Mullen’s FIRST 25 games, but I think a comparison to his LAST 25 games is far more reasonable. I would not say we have been better than we were in 2016 and 2017, but we’ve been comparable, and definitely not drastically worse like some want you to believe. I realize we all hoped for better and probably should’ve gotten it, but it is what it is at this point. You can hope he improves next year or root for him to fail, either way he is going to be here another year

I'll root for him to succeed so much I feel obliged to beg his forgiveness for ever doubting him. But if we continue to look like crap, I'll want our decision-makers to fire his *** and apologize for not doing it soon enough.

What's idiotic is y'all not realizing while you're making this argument about how Croom left the program for Mullen compared to Mullen for Joe is that Mullen himself got to stack his own program however he liked it for 9 straight years and even then his record in the last 25 games wasn't any better than Moorhead in his first 25 games. Y'all haven't even given Joe a full two seasons to stack his program before wanting him run out of town and his record is exactly the same as the last guy some of y'all desperately wish was still here.

Sweet Jesus. Just because a team went 9-4 does not mean the next year was the same team, same schedule full of the exact same teams. All things are not static.

If that's the case Mullen inherited the #1 team in America from 2014 and totally screwed up in 2015.

If that's the case, Mullen inherited a 9-4 team in 2015 and went 5-7 in 2016.

I’m just wondering what the trolls will do after Jo is fired next year.

I believe the trolls were the ones claiming that Moorhead was gone, signed contracts, 4 million buyout and that it came through the chosen one, hand picked by the AD to spread the gospel truth on your favorite board. But YOU already know that.

It's very common to disagree with a coach's personnel decision and not want him fired at the same time. I'm not sure I ever agreed with Cohen's baseball lineup one single time and he changed it 95 times in a row.

We ran two different spread schemes in 15 and 16.Thomas I know that's shocking for you to hear of a State coach adjusting his scheme to what's on the roster, but that's what a good coach does.

Mullen left Moorhead the #1 defense in America in year one.In year two, nine players who started two or more games returned on a unit that has been in the top 10 for the past two years. Not counted in that number is Rivers,Spencer and Jones who have played a crap ton of snaps at Miss State.

Thomas,I told you I'd be your Huckle Berry over here.Say when...

Mullen didn't leave Moorhead the #1 defense he left him the 24th ranked defense. They weren't #1 till Shoop and Moorhead were the coaches for a full year. Don't use posters actual names online unless they volunteer it first or give you permission Carbaryl. It's about the least cool thing you can do.

Mullen never even came close to being fired. The majority of the fanbase used to hope we could hold on to Mullen every offseason. This offseason, the majority of the fanbase hopes Moorhead does move on.
