What did the press conference mean?

Attempt to keep it simple and directly on target and just weigh in with your take.(<-super unlikely)

My take: Joe was negotiating his buyout to be 100% of whatever his contract says. Gauntlet thrown. I’m just not sure who all he tossed it toward.

I don't know what it means other than he doesn't like some of the fan base right now.

Is tutorgate enough for Joe to get $0?

It meant, “I was approached by the AD and asked to step aside. I gave a number for an acceptable downward-negotiated buyout. Since that happened, I beat the in-state rival and got the team bowl-eligible. I’m not going anywhere without a much higher buyout, and nobody can make me. Also, my detractors can kiss my yankee ***. 17 you, Bob from Bogue Chitto. See you next year.”

Playing the his players against the fanbase is something that should stick with his sorry butt the rest of his life. Kinda like hiding behind his daughter's skirts after somebody got on him after the UT game. Every day they keep him around now will be worse than the day before.

I took it as he likes his job and wants everyone, including the team and recruits, he is not going to tuck and run (off to Rutgers). No need to try and build in shadowy between the lines messaging.

Frankly, one of his weaknesses is getting too distracted by fans etc... He has to learn how to not clap back. Just part of being a head coach.

Agree on all.

Dan Mullen: Will I stay? Will I go? Oh, is that another AD on the phone? I'll never tell!

*proceeds to hemorrhage recruits every december*

Fan base: Why can't he just say he's staying? This is torture!

Joe Moorhead: This is my team. You're going to have to drag my yankee *** out of here!

Fan base: BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?

I think that was it. He knows he's gone, but he's going down fighting (not necessarily a good move for future employment).

To me, it sure looks like there are issues between Moorhead and Cohen. He mentioned the players supporting him more than once but never heard him mention administration.

I don’t have a problem with him standing up for himself and saying he’s the man for the job but I have a real problem with how condescending he acts toward the fan base. It’s ******** that he’s gonna tell people to pound sand. 17 him. Most of us have been here well before him and will be here well after he has failed and been fired. It blows my mind that he’s got his chest puffed out so much after beating a 4-8 by one point because of a missed extra point. You didn’t accomplish ****, Joe.

Get this bum out of here.

This is asinine. There’s never been any evidence of this at all.

Except for the fact Cohen walked out of the postgame press conference last night without speaking, refuses to give Moorhead the Vote of Confidence despite numerous written requests from reporters that would allow him to do so, and his 100% radio silence in the 24 hours since the game.

Goat, if I had evidence of it I would not have stated it as an opinion, such as saying “to me”. But I don’t know how you can say things look rosey if you watch that press conference. Moorhead was clearly making a statement and it was not just to the fans.

Dont forget the part where they say he is too laid back and not fiery enough. Then when he shows some balls and takes ownership of the team he is a dick

You guys sure like to overanalyze the heck out of things. I think it’s more likely than not that when Moorhead said he was not going anywhere, he is in fact not going anywhere.

It means my annual BDC "pledge" will go unfulfilled if he is head coach 12/31.
So you are a self admitted liar, and you did it in public. AWSOME. Not many people will do that. You should be so proud.

Criticism is part of his job. Like it or not. He’s let it get to him several times this year. The SEC isn’t for the frail.

Sure. But all the "sources say he's gone no matter what" talk 24 hours before the game 1) makes it more difficult to get the team focused and ready to play, and 2) make it more difficult to recruit. The people saying that stuff apparently had crappy sources and passing it around was not helpful to the team. I'd be less than happy with it too.

Why do you think I put "pledge" in quotes. Obviously, you have never given to the BDC or you don't pay attention. Give the BDC some money this year and they will put you down for the same amount as a "pledge" in 2020. So, actually the BDC are the "liars" if you want to be an internet tough guy. I made no such "pledge" or commitment to continue giving, but they put it on a statement as if I did.

That team that played Thursday night was not a team that looked like their Head Coach was halfway out the door.

I don’t think people wanted fiery in the sense of being a dick to the fan base but in being fired up to the point of driving himself, his staff, and the players in preparation and practice. I don’t care if you’re a Dick if you are simultaneously doing a good job. He should probably wait until he can get through an opening offensive drove without a presnap penalty before he acts like a dick.

Does it? They were better prepared to play in that game than they have been any other time in a season and a half. Shoop's gameplan and the team's execution of that plan was awesome.

It means 15,000 season tickets will be sold next year. Also means Joe has

Absolutely zero respect or fear of Cohen and Keenum. He poked the bear because he knew they would do nothing about it but sit there and listen to a “Yankee ***” downplay our whole existence. The ‘85 Bears reference was just one of his little subtle jabs. There were plenty others. Notice he mentioned 98 and 99 teams but left out the part that this program was the first to ever be crowned #1 in the football playoff. He left out our biggest bowl invitation in school history in 2014. To him, we are nothing but a bunch of dumbass Southerners who should be on our hands and knees giving thanks for having him here.

So one thing really irks me about Joe's rant at press conference the other night.
During his respnse to Horka, he rattled off the same excuses the suspensions and the injuries. I get it. Suspensions and injuries were big but they happen to every team. The suspensions were huge but we cant blame anyone but the players and the tutor. But he added that we had the 3rd toughest schedule in the country. This is absolutely not true. We didnt have the 3rd toughest in the division. A&M played Bama, LSU, Georgia, and Clemson. Auburn played Oregon, Bama, Georgia, and LSU. LSU played at Texas, at Bama, Florida. We had our toughest games at home. Heck OM may have played tougher schedule.
Just tired of the excuses for his lack luster coaching. We lost games because he sucked. He even owned that after Tennessee.
