Moorhead's first three seasons will match Mullen's last three seasons in regular season wins.

With yesterday's win Moorhead has won 14 regular season games. Mullen won 13 regular season games in his last two seasons.

Mullen won 8 games in 2015 (with a senior quarterback named Dakota Prescott). Moorhead will need to win 7+ games in 2020 to match Mullen's last three seasons.

Sell NC State will have a new coach, a new coach at KSU this year Beat us at home. This game is in Raleigh.

Obviously 4 more for sure losses in Alabama LSU Texas A&M and Auburn

I think State beats New Mexico, Alabama A&M. Tulane is well coached with Fritz and will probably be closer than we'd like but we'd think an SEC team could win that one but too early to tell. Arkansas kinda feels like Kansas State last year where we have an early home game with a bad team last year with a new coach.

Obviously Shoop coached circles around Moorhead last time in Lexington. Missouri may have a new coach idk but I think that's a win if not. And then obviously Ole Miss is a tossup.

We're looking around 5 wins I'd say?

Seven is probably necessary for him to get a Year 4. I do think it’s doable though. If you beat Arkansas and Mizzou at home and then win two out of three on the road against NC State, Kentucky, and Ole Miss, you’ll be there without really having accomplished just a ton.

I’ll buy but I think it’s close.

Somebody's gonna have to sell me on where the offense is going to come from to where we can score points on the road. We're looking at a starting lineup of Shrader, Witherspoon, Osiris, Heath, Austin Williams and Spivey at the skill positions on offense. That's horrendous. There's not one player that SEC D coordinators will have to game plan for.

Assuming Moorhead is back is still going out on a limb. That being said, the schedule is workable. On paper, we should definitely beat NM, Arkansas, Tulane, AAMU, Mizzou, and OM. That’s 6 without even breaking a sweat. Should be able to get all those even with the questionable coaching effort we got this year.

UK and NC State are games we should win and might be favored, but its hard to feel 100% on us taking both with them being on the road. Maybe we split those?

Conversely, A&M and Auburn are two teams that are tough, but we have had success against both in Starkville. We are 6-2 against them combined in Starkville since A&M joined the SEC in 2012. Combine that with the Malzahn drama and possibility of Mond bolting early for the NFL, and it’s not unrealistic at all for us to expect to split those.

So, 8-4 is very attainable, even if we drop both games against Auburn and A&M. It’s an even numbered year which is historically when we have been able to make some noise. 7 is the bare minimum number of acceptable wins, and even that may not be enough to get him a 4th year (depending on who he beats and whether we struggle with injuries).

No way Moorhead beats Mississippi in Oxford next year. I predict 6-6 with an Egg Bowl loss.

I don’t know, they lose a LOT of contributors, especially on defense, that don’t maybe get the press coverage of a Plumlee, Ealy or Moore. Not to mention, depending on what Rich Rod does, they’ll be short a quarterback.

At first glance, I thought the same as you. But upon further inspection, Luke is still the coach and it’s not near 100% that his assistants stick around, plus he may get fired midseason and they quit.

Had they hired a new coach, I’d tend to agree.

Look at their schedule. Luke is going to be fired by midseason. They’ll have so much quit in them by Thanksgiving they won’t know what to do with all of it.

I've been hearing UM is going to quit for the past 4 years. While they've struggled due to talent, they haven't quit. And I think you're way underestimating how bad another year with Moorhead would be. Yeah, the defense will be a little better. But that offense is going to be a throwback to the Croom era without Hill and Gibson.

Yep. That schedule screams 8-4 for any competent SEC team. The problem is, I have no idea where the offense is going to come from. People say give him time to get his players in to run his offense, but the players going out are better than the guys he’s bringing in IMO. If he can’t even be average offensively the last two years, it could get ugly offensively next year.

But Joe will go 6-6 with another close win over a bad, checked out OM team and the blue hairs will say “aww shucks, we won the egg and went to a bowl. He’s doing great.”

And we’ve beaten them 3 of those 4 years and were a broken ankle and a head coach with one foot out the door away from winning all 4. And are you really trying to say they didn’t quit in Oxford last year or in 2016?

I'm buying. We will win 7 next year. I could see 8 really and since everybody on here is guessing 5 and a bad year I feel real good about it. We know how these SPS predictions go. All doom and gloom.

That’s the easiest schedule we’ve ever had. Like I said, we can schedule 6 wins a year every year and 7 most years now.

You don’t even have to stretch to hard to see that we could easily be 3-1 or 4-0 out of the gate. And then you probably go 0-4 or 1-3 through the next four. 3-5 worst case, 5-3 beat case.

Then you have a probably beatable Missouri team, a very beatable UK team, a guaranteed win and a who the **** knows with Ole Miss. likely 2-2 here, could be 3-1 and 99th percentile projection 4-0.

So best case all the way around is 9-3

Worst case is probably 5-7

We can throw darts to figure out where we are in between those bookends.

Absolutely agree 100%. 6 - 6 will be the ceiling, 4 - 8 very, very doable. Zero confidence the ceiling will ever be any higher than break-even under the current regime. That being said, I really, really hope I'm wrong.
