So I came across spoilers for The Rise of Skywalker and good lord, is it bad. I hated The Last Jedi, but this sounds even worse, if that’s possible. How could Disney screw this up so badly? Are any of you going to see it?

Yeah that’s pretty much everything that I read from a separate source. Apparently a lot of people walked out of the screening. It sounds like bad fan fiction. Really bad fan fiction.

i read it too and was disappointed. Also, read an article where the guy that did force awakens laughed when he read the plans for last jedi... which made everyone realize they didn't have the story ironed out and have been making changes depending on who was running the ship at the time.

This will be the first Star Wars movie I wont be going to see in theaters that has come out in my lifetime. Disney turned a great thing into a joke.

It's really hard to write Star Wars with no source material!!**

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy stated the Star Wars sequel trilogy films are incredibly difficult to make because they don’t have “source material,” and they don’t have “comic books.”
Kennedy was asked by Rolling Stone if the final entry in Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy was “a particulary hard nut to crack.

She responded:

“Every one of these movies is a particularly hard nut to crack. There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels. We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be.”

The mandalorian has given me hope. The first three episodes have been great and the story is fantastic imo.

Oh my. I guess she’s right. Other than the dozens of Star Wars EU novels, graphic novels, comic books, and some guy named George Lucas, there’s no source material. After this one gets negative fan reviews, I’m sure they’ll claim aGAIN that the only people who didn’t like the movie were white supremacists and Russian hackers.

Here's z a hint

The Force is Femaie.

Kathleen Kennedy, with the help of Rain Johnson, has destroyed the primary Star Wars storyline.

I love great women characters in cinema but Rey's story is like bad, bad, horrible fan fiction written by a nose-ringed feminist with a buzz cut.

The Mandalorian is fresh thinking from old stories,

I think there is hope for anything not involved with this ending trilogy. I liked Ep 7 but Ep 8 was so bad I cannot bring myself to watch it again.

The Mandalorian is awesome. The third episode that just came out is the best yet.

I liked TFA a lot. I also was one who mostly liked TLJ, but I admit that I haven’t seen it since it was in theaters and don’t much much of a desire to. I didn’t hate it but it hasn’t resonated with me like other Star Wars movies.

After the prequels I thought making more Star Wars movies might be a bad idea. TFA and Rogue One made it seem like they had a good plan, but TLJ and Solo were divisive at best, and the chatter about this new movie hasn’t been tremendous. At this point I’ve accepted that nothing will recapture the greatness of the original trilogy and I’m just going to take these movies for what they are and not let it tarnish my memory of the originals.

Agreed. I think there are tons of stories that can be told from the SWs universe, just have to have the right people in charge, like you said. Jon Favreau is great. Bring in the the other marvel guys like the Russo’s and Gunn, they’ll put out great stuff imo.

That’s ridiculous. There’s tons of material to choose from written about what happened after the fall of the empire in RotJ.

Agree as well. Favreau and Gunn are not afraid to tell new stories from old material without killing the original themes and cannon.

What Favreau did with the original Iron Man and was astounding and I love to watch it over and over and see more and more Easter eggs of what eventually happened in that entire saga.

Star Wars fans should be orgasmic that Kevin Feige is in charge now. That dude is great with running those kinds of projects.

I think we are seeing when non fans try to make a movie for fans. They don't understand the story and then try to put all this political ******** in it. Can't have a white male in it now.

Snoke could have been a Thanos level villain, that’s what I hate the most and the biggest travesty in the new trilogy imo. I know that horse is beat to death, but I’ll never understand that.

My theory is that JJ Abrams wanted to give the fans a new trilogy that would be very faithful to the source material, but also one that could be seen as “not very risky.” I loved The Force Awakens. And then Rian Johnson happened. How do you come back from that? He tore everything down and didn’t have to think about what would come next. Enter JJ Abrams again. So now we get “Skywalker” in the title, Kylo gets his mask back, Lando returns, Carrie Fisher passed away but they didn’t write her out in TLJ, Palpatine is back, etc. I honestly feel bad for Abrams because I think he probably had a great initial vision.

In the original and prequel trilogies, the main character went through some serious, serious issues in the second movie and were the focus point from which all plot points flowed or pointed back to and there were real consequences they endure while still trying to become a Jedi.

The Last Jedi castrated Luke and had him drinking green milk from giant alien cow titis while Rey merely had to close her eyes and suddenly became the greatest Jedi ever while the other women treated the males like imbeciles and blew up the hugemongus empire ship by flying through it?

I have a feeling that this movie will fare like Solo did. Somewhat big opening but it fades in the next few weeks.

And more blame will fall on the woman-hating, white males.

Same reason why the feminist reimagine of Charlie's Angel opened with a thud.

I think Solo was a good movie but being right after the **** show of TLJ along with all of the problems with Ron Howard having to come in a reshoot it gave it almost no chance.

I do think that there is some backlash of white males getting tired of being told that they are the bad guys. At the end of the day, white males make up the largest customers of these movies. They think that they are obligated to come and then they can get the other demographics by targeting them.
