Mark Hudspeth, the elephant in the room

Let me begin by saying: no. I don’t believe we will hire Hud, and I’m not trying to lobby for that because for me to think I could make a difference would be a bit ridiculous. I will say though that I have seen a lot of ignorance concerning him on this board the last few days. And it’s hard not to comment on it.

If anyone thinks that he is damaged goods when it comes to the NCAA, you aren’t very well informed. He was cleared by the NCAA. He never had a show cause or any indication of wrongdoing while at UL. Sure, the NCAA problems certainly caused him to lose control of his program in the last couple years, but please don’t pretend like he didn’t put that program on the map. And he would never make the same mistake twice.

Those who say, if he can’t win in the Sunbelt why would he win at MSU, you are a dumbass. He has literally won everywhere he has gone, including the sunbelt. Maybe check for yourself to see what he is currently doing now?

Mark Hudspeth is a winner. He would consistently win 7-9 games a year here and occasionally slip up and win some games we aren’t supposed to, just like he has done (at a minimum) everywhere he has been.

Coach Hud is the elephant in the room. You haven’t seen anything like the way things would be if he were our coach. He would easily be the best coach to ever coach at MSU. Hiring him would be the easiest decision we could ever make to guarantee success, it makes too much sense. And that’s exactly why we won’t do it. It makes too much sense. If Greg Byrne we’re still here, he would already have a deal with Hud in place. But he isn’t. And we likely don’t.

But some of you are idiots if you don’t think he is a winner who would recruit and compete at our highest level ever, on a long term basis. Carry on.

If they pull the trigger on Joe I would love to see Hud get his chance. I think he would put maximum effort into the job and I would become his biggest fan the day they announce it. He does win. Not sure if he could here but I honestly think he could do as good as anyone else. In my opinion it's a tough place to win 9 or 10 a year

HUD sits firmly in the shaded area of the Venn diagram of coaches who have had some success at lower levels and coaches who might not jump at the first chance they have to leave us behind. That is the essence of his popularity.

Damn. My second spot on in less than 24 hours. Is there an award for spot on poster of the year?

Man if what you are saying is positive (I’m not sure) then I agree. But he was the guy ten years ago and he is the guy now. If we don’t pull the trigger on him we are idiots

And you’re part of the reason we will remain in mediocrity forever. Congrats you deep thinker.

It’s a legit concern. Mullen might have won a championship of some sort had he been committed.

And he’s had really good success, not just some.

We have a chance to finally get this right. You Keyboard cowboys will get on board quickly and claim you were always there.

I doubt anyone on this board is the reason we remain in mediocrity. Kind of a melodramatic statement. I doubt anyone who had a life would waste their time on here if they were not big State fans. It's just about the only sports I watch besides an occasional Saints game. And yes, if they fire Joe I would love to see them give Hudspeth a shot.

I’m not against Hud, but you have been jerking off to him for 17ing years. I know you’ve been reading this message board fully cocked this past week

So go get Merlin part deuce and enjoy that ever ending I'm not leaving saga with every successful season.

Hud would be committed to MSU. Pay him 2-1/2 to 3 with incentives for benchmarks and go out and get a serious great staff and pay them. Makes sense.

I'm not sure you understand the "elephant in the room" saying. SPS talks about him every day.

What says he would be committed any more to us than any other non-alum?

If the next SixPackSpeak magazine doesn't have the headline "Triton redefines the meaning of 'Elephant in the Room'" Drebin has completely missed the boat.

If Greg Byrne were here, he would do exactly what he was told by President Keenum.

Your willfully ignorant pitch for Hudspeth needs to be made to the top floor of Lee Hall. The actual elephant in the room has an office there.

We're on NCAA probation, but you want to hire a guy who thought bringing in David Saunders was a good idea.
