What are your favorite MSU podcasts? Some have come and gone through the years and some have stuck around. Here are the ones I know of at the moment. If someone posts more that I'm unaware of I'll update it as well. (links open in Spotify or other player). But which are your top 3 "must listens"?

Thunder & Lightning: [each week day] We lost the B&B show when Bob left his homeland. Brian Hadad, long time friend of the program and one of the original Six Pack hosts with Joel Coleman. It's the most consistent MSU podcast and is a strange mix of optimism and pessimism... which is probably accurate for MSU fans. Yes, they're both fans who try to be objective as "journalists" too. Generally 30-60 minutes.

The Boneyard: [3x week] Steve Robertson, a long time recruiting analyst turned author/investigator provides insight and commentary on what's going on with the Bulldogs most Mon/Wed/Fri. There is an over-coating of optimism most days, even after the losses. But he's not afraid to call out egregious mistakes when he sees them either. And you get to hear what Steve's family's favorite burgers are at Bulldog Burger Company as well.

The Sky Dogs: [weekly] Matt East & Hank Allen are MSU grads and Weather Dudes who provide their own analysis of MSU sports and also have some friendly banter. And since these guys are professional tv guys their mic technique is on point.

Starkville State of Mind: [weekly] Justin Strawn is a school teacher and fan who likes to talk about MSU sports and is usually a solo show. He's being doing this for quite a while. Generally 30ish minutes.

For Whom The Cowbell Tolls/What The Hail: [sporadic] Another fan talking MSU sports. I don't have much experience with this one.

Hail State Shockwave: [often] Colton Watson and Gavin Logazino have regular conversations about MSU Sports and an occasional guest as well.

Inside Mississippi State Athletics: [almost weekly] It's an official podcast from Leerfield Sports. It's been DawgTalk with Moorhead so far this fall.

Bully Banter: [weekly] From the Commercial Dispatch, Ben Portnoy and Garrick Hodge talk MSU sports from these two journalists' perspective.

Black Dawgs Sports Podcast: [often] This is from the guys from the Black Dawgs Matter Facebook group. They talk what's going on in MSU athletics from their perspective.

Maroon Maniacs: [seems to have stopped?] Don't really know much of this one. They're eight episodes deep right now and started in August but hasn't posted a new show in a month.

Gone but not forgotten are The B&B Show and Brandon Walker's show More Cowbell. Matt Wyatt had a few with Brett Hudson that were sport specific (Dog Pile, PTLTD) that might come back or might not since Brett is covering Bama now. There was also Jake Wimberly's Double Coverage (not my cup of tea. Sounded like Jim Rome with short, staccato sentences and trying to insult listeners). There was Bully Barkline too. Plus Maroon & White Audible which was a Strawn production too.

Damn. Didn’t realize there were this many.

I enjoy the Monday edition of B&B. The Coffee, Things That Are True & What’s Causin All That are usually pretty accurate and entertaining.

I didn't either when I started this post, but upon searching for the ones I knew for their links I found a handful more that are fairly active as well.

Matt Wyatt was posting his show on multiple platforms but here recently only one day is loading for some reason.

I didn't know the Skydawgs were still doing their thing after VSPorto/BSR ended. Thanks for the link. I'll have to add them to my weekly listens.

As to the Question: Thunder and Lightning and The Boneyard are the only State specific ones I listen to consistently. The others are Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast and Unnecessary Roughness.

ETA: Dog Pile was a great show.

He is my least favorite. He talks like he is reading. He also talks too fast and always sounds like he has a mouth full of something.

I miss More Cowbell. Damnit, Brandon and his success.
Would be fine with me if he brought it back once the regular season for football was over. He always said basketball was his favorite MSU sport and not sure if he will be as busy... although they could put him on a college basketball show as well.

Anyway, Brandon if you are reading this.... we need an update!?!?! One show a week would be fine...

Thunder and Lightning is by far the best. I enjoy the Sky Dawgs. I'm not able to stomach The Boneyard anymore. It's just Steve putting out a narrative he wants to push, telling is how "a certain segment of the fanbase" has the wrong opinion, and talking about restaurant quality hamburgers. That podcast needs an intervention to make it listenable.

Thunder and Lightning has grown on me and is by far the most objective.

I agree with Len2003. Steve's not very good without the OM investigation being interesting.

I look at Bo Bounds app daily and watch for good interviews. You can pick and choose.

I think Matt Wyatt would be wise to do the same thing. No one has time to listen to 2 hours worth of radio looking for something specific.

I'm sure I'm the only one but I enjoy listening to OM's show with Not a Fan and Chase. They are pretty objective and I enjoy the somber takes. I couldn't listen if OM was any good. I've yet to hear Not a Fan say Moorhead is leaving but I dont listen every single day. What I like is they trash the university and the IHL daily. It makes me happy.

I like Boneyard the best. I like how Steve breaks down the games and how he comes from not a sheep POV, but a 'what's best for MSU' POV. Plus he knows about the recruiting.

I listen to T&L secondly, when I want to hear some ranting and raving.

Didn't realize this was an old thread. My sentiments still remain for the 100 or so shows of This Is Our Show.

Thunder and Lightning is the only one I listen to anymore although the list of what I have listened to is pretty long.

Of the ones that are gone now, I miss More Cowbell and Joel’s old podcast with the beat writer who got fired for trashing Lafayette, Louisiana The most.

There were some real stinkers out there too. Especially in the beginnings of BSR. Too many to name honestly. Thank goodness Brian took over because the quality went way up after he did.

This honestly needs to happen. I’d love to hear the family discuss after the fact.

Even when I agree with Steve it is hard to listen to his preaching about how fans should think and behave. And enough with the stupid top 10 list. I had to delete him.

I listen to the Bulldog Sports content. Skip the lists and reading the menu of Bulldog Burger and other stuff that goes on and on.

He could have a really great 25-30 minute pod.

Out of left field with Bart Gregory and Charlie Winfield is good too. It was started as a baseball show back in January or February then 2020 happened. They had a good run of guests through the spring and summer and then took a break. They’ve recently fired it back up.

Yes and stop trying to be the conscience of all Dawgs. That is the reason I unsubscribed from his podcast.
