1) There was a discussion about if JoMo goes 8-5.... how horrible would it look for last years' team, which was significantly better than this years' team. Yes, that's true and all. But if JoMo goes 8-5 with losses to KSU and Tennessee, he will have successfully become Hugh Freeze, without the hookers (that we know of). Hugh could win a big game, but was always good to blow an easy one.

2) For the picks you guys do, it could always better. Like, maybe instead of shouting the team that your choosing for the win, you could pretend to be their mascot instead. So if you pick MSU to win, you just start barking like a dog. I look forward to seeing this in action soon.

Couldn't you just chalk up the 2018 season to growing pains for the new offense? But it's a moot point anyway.

You maybe could have, until this year turned out to be worse offensively.

Yes, but the question is about Mississippi State going 8-5 this year. I doubt we win 5 out of 6 games (incl bowl) if the offense doesn't improve dramatically.

One question that I thought was really good was the one about hiring a head coach that refuses to delegate his side of the ball to a coordinator. I'm sure there are a couple exceptions out there somewhere, but there aren't a ton of examples of successful head coaches that I can think of who are also trying to run an offense/defense.

If Joe is even going to have a prayer of digging out of this hole, I think he's going to have to give up the playcalling and check with me tricks

We aren't going 8 and 5. Hell, we aren't going to a bowl. Mootard hasn't proven he can do anything except underperform.

My God why are folks getting their hopes up after getting blown out at home by 30+ points just because we played hard???? His post game presser was the most optimistic thing I've seen from Joe in some time, but I'm still not getting my hopes up. I'm not a "this time it's different kind of guy." Joe is always a good sound byte. Joe has to show me a reason to believe on the field for me to get my hopes up again.

I would love to 8-5 though. That would feel like winning the SEC after what we've been through this year and last.

I don't want Joe to leave bc that means we have sucked for a while. I want to win.

I still believe we will go 6-6.

I think we're at 50/50, maybe a little less. Joe appears to be good for winning less than half the games he should win that are not complete gimmes.

In 2018, we won KSU, Auburn, and A&M. We lost Iowa, Florida, and UK. That was with basically the best defense in the country.

In 2019, we won UK, ULL, USM, and have lost KSU and UT. Narrowing it down to teams that just have a pulse but not much else (which still might be giving them too much credit), we're three and two this year. I am thinking we're going to play Arkansas and Ole Miss close, but I'm skeptical we're going to pull out the win versus both of them. We should win both. But we should have won against KSU and UT.

A&M is a wild card as they definitely appears to play up or down to their competition. Eventually, that's going to burn them. But it's probably going to burn them against an overmatched team that is well coached. We might play them close like Arkansas or Ole Miss, but we will likely make some killer mistakes that keep us from closing the deal (maybe our Freshman QB trying to do too much, but just as likely delay of games or other stupid, drive-killing penalties).

I’ve stayed away from making any type of Croom comments because regardless of the results on the field, I think a lot more of Joe than I ever thought of Sly as a person.

That said, the whole post game “we gave effort” speech was very Croomesque. I’ll let it slide for one week because that was a possible national championship team that we just played on Saturday. That’s the last time I want to hear it, though. This program has been elevated above that pitiful statement for a decade, so if a coach starts using it again, it’s proof that he has driven us into the ground

The only game I will put early in the "W" column is Abilene Christian. Everything else is a toss up. I keep waiting to see this team rise up and show us something, but it ain't happening.

People keep talking about the suspensions hurting us, but defense took the major brunt of that, not offense. Moorhead's offense was bad last year and is bad again this year. When you have an OC, you can fire or demote that coach, but when that thumb points to you looking back in the mirror, what happens then?

That last paragraph describes my thoughts to a t. When we’re in a tight game down the stretch, I have little to no confidence in our discipline or coaching to drive us to a win.

The only straw of hope that I’m grasping is Shrader because it does seem that he’s got a good bit of that “it” factor. We fell short against KSU, but man...that kid is gonna give you everything he’s got til the bitter end

We suck on the road. So with that fact in place, We lose at A&M and Arkansas. The Golden Egg has been taken home by the road team the last several years, so we lose to OM. I see a total collapse in our future. He can start proving me wrong this weekend, but he wont.

I'm ready for it to be over.

I think he's already driven us into the ground. Even last year, with a very good team, he tried to justify our 8-5 record by saying MS State has had only 2 ten win seasons and only 1 SECW campionship. We should have been better than 8-5 last year. I knew we were in trouble after the Kentucky game last year-totally unprepared and undisiciplined.

I had us at 7-5 going into this year. If this team can find a way to win at ARKY...I'll be happy w/ a 6-6 record and winning again vs Ole Miss. It's just hard to see that happening.

Nothing has shown us that we can go on the road and move the ball. We have mightily struggled to get first downs vs UT and LSU and those aren't superior defenses...I don't see it improving on the road @ A&M.

Pretty much all system coaches call their own plays. Malzahn, Kelly, Rodriguez, Leach, Johnson, Niumatalolo, etc.

Texas A&M has a similar talent profile to Tennessee. We aren't beating them on the road without some luck.

We should beat Arkansas.

Ole Miss has a similar profile to Tennessee and Texas A&M. That said that does not take into account the transfers and what not. We should win that game at home.

He's proven he likes white helmets.
I really don't think he can get over the Penn State white. It really makes me sick to see us come out in white helmets.. It's got to be him wanting these sissy looking helmets...

I'm an old guy and to me maroon helmets (shiny maroon) is the look when you see State. I know our players might pick the uniforms, but seems we been in white helmets almost every game since Joe been here. I just think he has an input in it. I just don't see our players pick white helmets almost every week...

Hell I don’t care if we wear pink helmets if we show up and play a damn full game they are on scholarships to play. It comes down to want too and we have a few that don’t want too. Half *** effort it’s time to sit some players. I loved what Coach O said. We will play in a cow pasture at any time. We don’t care.
Time for players to step up and do what they are here for. If they don’t sit their ***’s then find players who are team players who want to represent themselves and this school. Damn this about uniforms, helmets or time of game. Play like you wanna be here and if a coaching staff can’t get that effort get them and the players who don’t buy in the hell out of here. Effort should never be a problem playing in the best conference in the nation no matter what helmet we wear or what time we have to put it on!!
