Baseball schedule update for 2020.

An away series versus a Big West team could be nice for our RPI, but The Dirtbags were really really bad last year. Like historically bad for that program. Hopefully their new coach can put together a more competitive squad this year.

The only East schools I could find a schedule on are Georgia and Florida, and we don't play either.

That's two series against west coast schools then. Lemonis mentioned last year that we would be hosting Oregon State in 2020.

They are usually solid. No football at the school, so baseball and basketball are king there...and it's one of the biggest schools in the state. That said, Long Beach is a fun town in an area of the state with a ton of things to do within easy driving distance.

The year before that they finished the season ranked 9th in the nation. They have a really good program. From '89 through '08 they had a great program. They draw some really good talent, so if they get the coaching turned around, they could be very dangerous again.

ETA - another note. They've had a similar situation that we've had with LSU. They've had a ton of really good teams, but a bitter conference rival in Cal State Fullerton that has mostly out-performed them.

I stand corrected. Didn't think about 2019 being last year.

Still, just 2 years ago they were a top 10 program.

and in college baseball, a team can turn it around it a year easily, with transfers, etc.

Yeah, at Vandy is tough but missing Florida and Georgia altogether is big. Especially when you also get Kentucky and Mizzou at home. On the surface those look like legit sweep opportunities. The West just is what it is so I don’t take much from where we play those teams.
