Good response, but his offense is ranked about 129 out of 130 I think. I saw yesterday they average right at 300ypg offensively. Croom was averaging about 275ypg.

So glad he's volunteering out there and working in the head coaching gig between his other jobs.

Maybe he spells it out, like "[email protected]."**

His problem is Fitz is Croom-level stubborn when it comes to firing his OC, Mick McCall. They suck on offense and he won't do anything about it.

Northwestern's total offense the past few years...

2018: No. 101
2017: No. 57
2016: No. 87
2015: No. 114
2014: No. 102

This got me looking at what would be better if you only could have one, a great defense or a great offense. So I started with Ole Miss and Northwestern (which isn't even a great defense, kind of meh most years.) Lots of other variables, but it would seem a ****** offense is easier to overcome than a ****** defense.

Northwestern
2018: 9-5 No. 101 Offense No. 64 Defense
2017: 10-3 No. 57 Offense No. 34 Defense
2016: 7-6 No. 87 Offense No. 60 Defense
2015: 10-3 No. 114 Offense No. 13 Defense
2014: 5-7 No. 102 Offense No. 53 Defense

Ole Miss
2018: 5-7 No. 9 Offense No. 121 Defense
2017: 6-6 No. 18 Offense No. 115 Defense
2016: 5-7 No. 26 Offense No. 111 Defense
2015: 10-3 No. 10 Offense No. 54 Defense
2014: 9-4 No. 51 Offense No. 13 Defense

Next I looked at Mississippi State and realize how much I want to kick Dan in the Nuts for the 1a-1b **** in 2014 and for not hiring a legit d coordinator before Grantham. That and Dak is the man... But I still don't have a real answer to offense or defense.

Mississippi State
2018: 8-5 No. 70 Offense No. 1 Defense
2017: 9-4 No. 46 Offense No. 10 Defense
2016: 6-7 No. 44 Offense No. 110 Defense
2015: 9-4 No. 31 Offense No. 56 Defense
2014: 10-3 No. 8 Offense No. 84 Defense

Now I decided to look at the usual suspects in the CFP... And now I feel like we have an answer. Outside of the Oklahoma teams, which have had ridiculously great offenses the last two years and bad defenses (and get bounced each time in the semifinals) it seems a top defense is critical.

It's obvious that a good offense helps, but a top defense is a must. Of course recruiting is probably the main component no matter how you slice it, but it looks like defense still wins championships if you have a solid offense... The last 2 years were not good enough from two bonafide offensive gurus at Mississippi State.

Was there anything worse than seeing Chris Jones on the sidelines in critical situation in the name of 1A and 1B? MuckFullen deserves many nad kicks for hiring that brilliant sumbitch that would later go on and lose to the likes of the Citadel.
