must see TV. I rarely even watch it anymore. The matchups are generally terrible and the commentators are nothing special (being kind here). Seems like ESPN has struggled with it ever since it quit airing on ABC. I’d love to see what Fox could do with it as opposed to ESPN.

Repeat.
This is why I rarely watch it anymore. I dropped cable so I have to watch it live streaming. I'm not going to watch that **** live unless it's the Steelers because i dont want to sit thru such a slow progression of the game.
Not even knowing who is in the booth at this point really doesnt help me give a ****. Is that Booger-bag on MNF now?...I thought I read that.

Al Micheals was good but other than that, not so much !

I will say I thought they were headed in a really good direction when the got Alex Smith, but that was an unfortunate injury. However, those things happen and you have to be prepared.

Booger is good for a "Get yo name in the paper" segment for SEC Network, but not for a full game color guy.

Music fans can buy an album and criticize it.
etc etc.
Entertainment can and should be criticized by fans if its deserving.
The OP was complaining about the game saying he didn’t watch it cause it was a crappy product. Have you ever complained about a movie or music that you didn’t watch or listen to? It just seems odd to me that so many people feel the need to complain about a game they didn’t watch or didn’t even intend to watch.
My point is, let’s have this discussion in late February and see if you wouldn’t rather have a bad football game or no football game.
People complain about the NBA without watching it- they say the NBA is all about isolation offense and they dont like how basketball is played, even though they havent watched it since the 90s.
Knowing something is a crappy product doesnt require you to experience the crappy product every single week to ensure its still crappy. But it also shouldnt last for 20 years like some for the NBA.
As for the February comment- extending the season is different from watching bad/uninteresting games with bad/uninteresting commentary.
If Booger McFarland was calling the Super Bowl I wouldn't watch, I'd rather have David Yellum Kellum on the call. Booger makes it unbearable no matter when or where
I still love watching football no matter whether it's NFL or college, but I've gotta say... the NFL has taken a sharp turn for the worse this year. The severe uptick in drive killing flags, constant commercials, and lack of coverage unless you're willing to pay $380 for Sunday ticket is making it tough.
Thank goodness for the Cowboys and fantasy football or I'd honestly be finding other things to do on Sunday afternoons.
Regarding penalties, did I see the holding flags are up something like 68% here? Who in the world thought that would be a good idea? I haven't seen the numbers in terms of impact to scoring, but it has to be down significantly this year. I've already seen 5-6 games this year that were something like 7-3 at the half.

Holding penalties were waaay up through week 2 but the NFL made a concerted effort to cut down last week after many complaints-mainly Tom Brady.
This is the problem I have. The announcers have zero personality.
Sunday Night Football is light years ahead of the rest.
It basically comes down to over saturation of the Sport! Thursday night, Saturday all day and night, Sunday all day and night, then Monday Meh... Unless it's a good matchup.
Less holding means better game play because defenses can sack QBs more. Perhaps more passign too, if running causes more holding(ive seen that statistic before).
