Gameday polos in the heat

I'll be at the Kentucky game next weekend (travelling from Texas). I've pretty much always worn a polo to football games, but with all the talk about heat, especially in the lower levels, I'm considering going T-Shirt next weekend. Feels like a weird faux pas at age 39, but I don't wanna be miserable. It's been a long minute since I've been to a day game at Davis Wade, even longer since I've been to one in September. I'll be in the first few rows of section 20 (facing west).

What say you, late Gen-Xers/Early Millennials?

I'm a slightly older Gen Xer (45) and I can absolutely assure you that no one cares what you wear.

Put another way: wear the t-shirt. It's fine.

I say the older I get, the less I care about what I wear to be stylish. I'm all about comfort and practicality now.

T-Shirt Away my friend!

If you must wear something in vogue and also climate appropriate try a PFG shirt from Columbia. These shirts are light weight and breathable, also I know once in Starkvegas you can find a nice White or Maroon one with an M State logo at either the Lodge or the MSU golf course pro shop.

Wear what you want but it's the material and the color of shirt that are important not t-shirt vs polo. I have some t-shirts that are a heavy cotton and they are a lot hotter than the polo I wore last weekend

This. Are we talking cotton polos/tees? If so, bring them, but wear a Climalite (TM) or DriFit (TM), then use the cotton polo to swab your head.

Thanks. I feel dumb even asking, but in a weird way, it's kind of like the first time I wore jeans or shorts into church.

I've worn a tee shirt to games before and never got a second look from anyone. Basically, wear what you want and whatever is most comfortable.

I actually think the upper levels are hotter than the lower ... closer to the sun. **

As a very closely aged guy... my best advice is that it depends on your cup size... If you are a full b or more, please for the love of God, wear a white cotton t-shirt without your bra and come find me in the scoreboard club at halftime after you have worked up a good lather... If you're more modest chested, just wear whatever top you like, but some cute short-shorts and again come find me for an inspection.. I will be travelling from Texas too if you want to carpool...You are a 39 year old woman asking for this fashion advice right?***

Ive got a white under armour heat gear polo and that thing keeps me cooler than going shirtless. If I wear a knit polo or a tshirt Ill sweat through that SOB before I make it to the junction

MSU PFG short sleeves and no undershirt. Shorts and flops. Cap or floppy hat. September - October. Might add an undershirt if temps dip below 60.

Dang, thought you were talking about males for a minute. Instead of a "worked up good lather", just pray for rain.

I've got some of those sleeves that I use for golf for sun protection, and they actually feel cooler than bare arms. And they're something like an SPF 50.

Wear the shirt... hell, wear a sleeveless shirt! Then you’d really be living.

In all seriousness, it’s way different here in Virginia. You’ve got the university of Virginia which is very OM when it comes to game day attire (especially the students in blazers and ties). Then Virginia Tech is more like state, but most adults just wear t shirts.

Exactly! Could careless what anyone else wears. And to be honest could careless what anyone else thinks about what I wear.

My son had something similar this past weekend and they weren't going to let him bring it in until they could tell I was about to become unhinged and decided it was too hot to argue about.

We brought them in last year and didn't have a problem at the gates. I guess it depends on whether the gatekeeper is a Barney Fife or Andy Taylor.

I'm 55 and when its hot day game I always wear a white MSU T shirt and have for years. If anybody cared I never noticed. I HAVE noticed people dressed up who looked like they were about to die though, LOL.

Holy 17, you've got to be kidding me. We've let our kids bring those for years - and not even to games near as hot as these two. What kind of idiots do we have at these security gates?

Now I will say we've always brought them empty and filled with water in the stadium, so hopefully that was the issue and not the fan itself.

I know I wore my standard maroon blazer and tie last week and didn't have any problems.**

I wouldn’t look down...

...on you if you went shirtless on the East side. I would suggest wearing a visor and a 5lb bag of ice on your head. That will keep you cool through the first quarter.

RPO will be dressed as an Eskimo to show his exceptional loyalty even in the heat.

I’ll know it’s him because he’ll be the one holding a sign saying “If you’re reading this sign on the SEC Network, then you’re a 17ing coward that hates your team! Enjoy your A/C, *****!”

What say you, late Gen-Xers/Early Millennials?

Why the 17 would it feel faux pas at age 39?
Im 4 months from being 39, so I suppose I may just not know how it feels. If I suddenly think standard clothing to a 17ing football game is a polo in 4 months, Ill be shocked and saddened.

Its a football game- nobody should give a 17 if someone wears a tshirt because, you know, its a 17ing shirt!
If you are trying to impress someone, then sure wear the polo. Then ask yourself why you are trying to impress anyone with a 17ing collared shirt at 39.

During your drive in from Texas, spend some of that windshield time reflecting on why you think someone at any age must wear a polo to stand on concrete and watch a bunch of college guys run into each other.
