Our path to hosting Gameday on Oct 19th is so simple it's practically assured...

Here's hoping that

this thread gets bumped with an "I told you so" by the OP in about 5 weeks.

They only ran for 173 vs Tulane. I expect to be the underdog at Auburn, but they are over ranked at #8 and we have generally played them well the last few years.

Outside of 2014 we haven't really played them well when they've had a good team. We lost by 39 the last time we were there. I'd love to beat them but I'm not sure how we beat any decent SEC team with our run defense.

I guess my point is, while I am not saying we will win, I do not think Auburn is as good as they are being given credit for.

1) It's TBD whether they have a good team. They should have lost Week 1, and we don't really know how good Oregon is at this point.
2) There's little evidence our run D is as bad as you're making it out to be. Louisiana had more success running the ball all of last season, even against Bama, than they did against us in Week 1.

We played them really damn well in 2013, and would have probably beat them if either Jameon Lewis didn’t drop a late 4th quarter pass on 3rd down, or we had better coverage on Uzomah on final play.

I remember. I was there. Nick Marshall also caught his own pass off a deflection and ran for 20 or so yards.

To add to this, Malzahn's most recent teams seems to be worse matchups for us than those teams from around 2013-2015. They have gotten away from his strengths and now tend to just look like old Auburn teams, man-ball types which over-power us most of the time.

As for the Auburn luck, I was there too, and they always have that crap happen to them, especially at home.

They do have crazy luck at home, your exactly right about that crap. It makes me sick and pissed off. They may be up 28-10 in the fourth quarter due 1 touchdown or long play that should’ve never happened and State having 1 TD called back on a legit bad call. And the other times it’s just a blow out.

If.....and it’s a big if.....all these line up, isn’t Dak the obvious guest picker? Cowboys have a home game on Sunday vs. Philly. He should have his new contract by then and if he continues to play anything like he did Sunday, he will be the hottest ticket around.

First.. no way he does that on a game week regardless of how many miracles have to play out for my scenario to happen. Second.. he’s already one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet. He’s starting his 4th year as quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Tickets don’t get hotter than that.

If Zeke can take off to Cabo the entire training camp and preseason, Dak can’t take a private jet over Friday night and fly back after lunch? Jerruh may say no, but he has to be the first one called.

Look at the storyline. It wouldn’t write itself any better. The last time Gameday was in Starkville, Dak was the QB and we demolish another Tiger team.

Second, a lot of the talking heads (and even some of our own fans) were saying he’s not deserving of a big contract, despite the statistics for the past 3 years. So if he continues to play at a high level for the next month, a lot of crow will be eaten. The naysayers aren’t happy with his success because they didn’t predict it and it was unconventional. Sure, he’s a hot ticket now. He’s not speaking at Rotary Club and The Dallas Quilters Association meetings. My point was he would be one of the hottest stories of the year (which is why I qualified it by saying if he continues to play at a high level.). Obviously, if he goes out the next few weeks and throws 10 INT and 6 TDs for 175 yds a game, he would be toxic to put on for us especially if he signed the big contract this week. There’s been several QBs and baseball players who signed huge contracts and then fizzled out. They get a lot of bad press when their name is mentioned. I don’t think we have to worry about that with Dak because of his drive to succeed.

After his new contract, he'll be able to buy his own Gulfstream. Doesn't have to bother with Wheels Up.

They were ranked #8 in the country when they showed up in Starkville week 6 last season. They began that season with a win over a top 10 Pac-12 team, too.
