They'll just take the top 2 teams out of the 11 remaining for the championship game. I think the SEC should look into doing this. Would love to see a little less of Bama, Auburn, LSU & A&M and more of Vandy, Tennessee, Missouri and South Carolina.

It does feel like this is the way that things are headed, and I’ve gotta think that the SEC would jump on board at some point.

From a football perspective, it would completely change the game for us. Granted, we might never be as good as Bama or UGA from a head to head perspective, but imagine the occasional season when we didn’t have those two or LSU on the schedule. It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility that we could occasionally sneak back to Atlanta

I don't think that's the way things are headed for the SEC. If they do, it will be done in a way that makes it less likely that a non-blueblood backs into the championship game. Might seed it by playoff ranking or something.

With friggin Mizzou in the......EAST, it needs to be done. To move them back out west and keep things geographically aligned properly, it would mean splitting Bama and Auburn which aint happening. I would like to see them go ahead and get rid of divisions, have 2 or 3 permanent lock opponents and rotate the rest. At the end of the season, the top 2 go to Atlanta.

3 permanent opponents + rotate 5 of the other 10. Every 4-year player plays every other team at least twice and in every other stadium at least once. Every important rivalry can be maintained, and you could even cycle around the "permanent" opponents every 4-year block.

Top 2 (or top 4, if we can swing it) go to SECCG.

No longer will less deserving teams play in the SEC Championship Game undeservedly due solely to geography.

I think it would work a lot easier with 4 permanent and rotate 4 of the remaining 9. But that's a minor detail. The important thing is there's absolutely no reason to have divisions and it very well could bite the SEC in the *** come playoff selection time one year if, say a 9-3 Missouri team upsets an 11-1 Alabama team in the title game, while an 11-1 LSU team gets left out because the other 4 P5 conferences all have undefeated or 1-loss champions.

And the SEC would make Bama, LSU and UM yearly for us

Maybe not LSU, but Bama for sure

I doubt we'd get LSU (they'd get UMiss, A&M and Arkanas), but yeah, Bama for sure. Which is still better than what we have today.

Yeah, it’s nothing more than a hunch on my part, but I’m basing it on the fact that we already did it for basketball, most conferences are getting larger, and recent trends have had conferences moving away from divisions. I just don’t think anyone likes a scenario where two conference teams only play each other every 8 or so years, and it’s hard to get away from that without nixing the divisions
