Okay, so in Year 11 of a dynasty league, and my 10th year of coaching in it. It's rookie draft time tomorrow night.
I should be coming to the end of my rebuilding process, but the margin of missing/making the playoffs is razor thin (my franchise won the league in 2010, 13, and 14 but missed the playoff the last two years).
The league puts a premium on RB's since there are so few bell-cows (I expect that's everywhere) despite being a PPR league. Last year I went WR heavy in the rookie draft and came away with Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk (I had Michael Gallup as well before dropping him).
Given the comparatively poor rookie receiver crop this year, there's more reason than ever to focus on RB's.
I'll be picking 3rd.
My current RB's are Dalvin Cook and Philip Lindsay, and I have Mark Ingram and Royce Freeman (Lindsay's handcuff) on my bench, plus Justin Jackson (who I'm trying to figure out how to trade to the guy with Melvin Gordon).
We do have a Flex spot, which I usually give to receivers since there are big play bonuses.
I expect David Montgomery and Josh Jacobs will go 1 and 2. If not, I'll grab whomever is there.
My options for Pick #3:
1. Miles Sanders - rumored starter for the Eagles, at least second in line for touches. Looked good in second preseason game. Potentially high long-term return on investment.
2. Tony Pollard - slam dunk for instant impact if you know Ezekiel Elliot will holdout. Long-term investment potential only otherwise. Could be stuck behind Elliot for years, or taking over now.
3. Alexander Mattison - Dalvin Cook's backup. Given Cook's injury history, the safe pick.
4. Justice Hill - Mark Ingram's likely handcuff, but in a crowded backfield. Supposedly not built to be a workhorse, and has been iffy in preseason.
5. Darrell Henderson - hasn't lived up to the hype running the ball in the preseason, but will get a lot of touches if Todd Gurley's knee acts up, and is catching passes left and right out of the backfield.
6. Devin Singletary - the darkhorse in a currently crowded, but really old, backfield in Buffalo.
What say you?
