I hope he stays and competes next spring. If he gets beaten out by a redshirt freshman, it's pretty obvious your days of playing quarterback are just about over, especially in the NFL. Try wide receiver and finish your degree. A lot of good wide receivers played quarterback at the previous level, whether it's college to high school, or pro to college. It's actually probably his best route over playing quarterback at divisional Louisiana.

Either way, I hope he is able to redshirt this year, which means Tommy Touchdown did not get hurt.

Mullen 17ed him and Fitz both. Had Mullen stayed Keytaon probably would have been all SEC in his system running and throwing. I hate it for him, and one of the things that makes it tough about the transfer deal with QB. I always liked recruiting young and developing our guys for system rather than having to recruit in because we couldn't develop. i realize that the two different types of systems made that harder on Moorhead, but still disappointing to me he couldn't develop KT in two off seasons to be what he wanted him to be.

I will certainly respect his decison and wish him well but hopefully clearer

heads prevail, he will likely be the starter next year.

Thompson is only a 3rd year player. Dak did not have his coming out party until the latter half of his third year. We forget that sometimes.

Reactions can sometimes be misguided. Based on Tommy Stevens past, there is a strong chance TS will get injured. Just seems that KT just had to wait his turn a little longer, but he would have been the QB @ State.

Shrader has a lot of upside but he's a pup, KT is much more physically mature

and experienced. Shrader has release issues that need to be addresed but KT is too side armed as well.

I hope he finds the right system somewhere. He'd be a good QB in the right offense.

Mullen was a guy that would run his QB 30 times if that would win, and I think KT would a good fit for that type offense. Moorhead has proven he's determined to throw the ball to win games. I know we didn't see a lot of KT, but assuming KT is a lot like Fitz --- those guys trying to run Moorhead's offense remind me a little of watching Tyler Russell playing for Mullen. They can look great against lesser opponents, but when we play a good defense it's obvious we can't do everything the coach wants.

I got no hard feelings for him, but I don't feel sorry for him either. This is a tale that's been told hundreds of times. At the end of the day, he's walking away from a school that has offered him a full ride to play ball.

GS won't be as much of a pup next year. And Moorhead has had high praise for him in camp. I'm not sure KT would start next year if he stayed. I too have a lot of respect for him and hope he can find a place that he can start at.

I agree with most everything about your post, but I have often wondered if it really and truly matters. All these guys' goals are to get to the NFL. If you are an NFL-capable quarterback, wouldn't you succeed in most any offense? I think I would look more at the coach if they could not develop that type of talent, no matter the specific skill set, and in the NFL, throwing is all that matters. If you cannot throw at that elite level, your running ability does not matter. One less than elite thrower has succeeded in the NFL, and that is Michael Vick. Pretty much the best runner of all time.

I think this why coaches like Rich Rodriguez and Chip Kelly are one-hit wonders. Possibly Mullen too, unless they can continually re-stock their roster with mobile guys who can really throw it, like Dak, Mariota, etc.

Yep, he signed with a guy that coached an offense that fit his skill set. I’m sure the coach told him he would mold him to be the next Dak Prescott. Since then that mentor took the money and ran off to Florida without even formally saying good bye. Just can’t figure out why he can’t understand the concept of loyalty. No worries, there is a guy that did the same thing to his school to be our starting QB.

I wish he would stay this year. Maybe transfer to FCS next year.

We're 1 injury away from him starting games. At the end of the season, if he has doubts about next year, transfer down to Jacksonville State.

But I wish him the best regardless.

heads prevail, he will likely be the starter next year.

This is what puzzles me. If he transfers to a D1 program he has to sit a year, then compete for the job in a new system under a new staff. If he stays here, he sits a year, with a chance to take over as starter if TS gets hurt or turns out to be a, "practice player" rather than a "game player". Either way, it seems KT's options are to start all over as the new guy someplace else next year, or stay here and be the likely front-runner in a system he will have had another year to learn and adapt to.

A transfer only seems smart if KT feels he won't really have a chance next year, if he feels like he's not a good fit for our system, or if he drops a division thinking he can start immediately. But is starting immediately in a new system in a lower division even assured or better than waiting for your shot here next year?

QBs transferring is the new norm. Just ask Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields or Tommy Stevens.

He did a great job for us and he'll be a good QB pickup for someone else. Best of luck to him. He's 2-0 as a starter and he's scored (pass/run) 18 TDs in basically 3 games.

You can't really fault him for not being ready in the Egg Bowl. You can complain about his completion percentage, but besides that he out the ball in the end zone a lot

Wouldn't be surprised since he fits his system so well.

He certainly made one Gator Bowl a lot more fun.

Given the crappy weather throughout the visit, that game was by far the highlight of my family's trip.

If he transfers now he will have a hard time finding a d1 power 5 school. With everyone starting playing this weekend. However if he stays this season and doesn’t transfer he will have to sit out a year next year whoever he goes unless it’s fcs. I think he would rather stay p5 or at d1 at least. Definitely might take him time to find a fit. Tommy coming in june hurt kt that it pushed back any timing he had for transfer if he lost the spot. Part of it though. Just not liking our qb depth this year if he holds out or transfers

I certainly think he's done enough to have his name spelled right.

I feel bad about the situation at the moment for him but I have no doubt that he will end up in a good spot whether that is with us or someone else. The thing about QB is really only one can play so it naturally lends itself to guys transferring. I understand him wanting to put himself in a position to get to the next level.

Next level? No way he's playing qb in the NFL. If he's really interested in the next level he needs to discuss playing a different position with Moorhead.
