I’ve heard GS is one of the suspended, not much of Mayden. Makes matters worse IMO.

That is not correct. The football cheating was from the 2018 fall semester per the NCAA report, Shrader was not on campus at that time.

I always hate to see players leave. KT gave it everything he had when he got the chance and it didn’t work out.

Name the last QB transfer to leave and show out at the next place....Tiano, Staley, Favre no bueno.

We always think our back up QB is the next great thing. Excluding Dak it’s never come to fruition.

I wish KT well and hope he tears it up, but once Mullen left it just wasn’t a good fit for him here.

Keep in mind, Tommy is also a transfer.

ETA - Just dawned on me you were probably referring only to QB's who transferred from MSU. Still, a better analysis would be to not limit it to just our transfers. We don't have some kind special sauce that makes us different.

Given TS has just this year to play, KT's transfer seems a bit odd unless:

A. He just decided after not winning the job this year that he is not a good fit for Joe's system

or

B. He may not believe he got a fair opportunity to win the job, so doesn't believe he will get one next year either

My 2 cents.

LSU or aTm could be good places and give him the chance to, "show Joe he screwed up". As much as I hope the young man finds success, I do hope it does not come at our expense.

You’re thinking WAY too big for Keytaon. Might need to bring it down a rung or three.

LSU starting QB in his last year. Next in line is Myles Brennan. You don't think KT could beat out MB and the other guy?

aTm lost Starkel to transfer. Mond looked much improved last year, but was it a fluke, or will he continue to play well? I wouldn't be surprised to see KT beat our Mond next year when Mond is a senior, particularly if Mond doesn't play so well this year.

Could also see KT having a real shot at UK.

KT did not fit this system. He was recruited for Mullen’s. He would be just fine. Franks isn’t half the QB that KT is. Not even close 31.
My first instinct was to think UF with Dan, but even if Franks doesn't continue to improve (as he did last year), UF has serious talent behind Franks. Just don't think UF works for KT because he'd be fighting an uphill battler to ever start there. If Franks steps back, they have Emory Jones chomping at the bit.

It’s hard to believe we hired a coach that required this level of overhaul at the QB position.

Overhaul? He needs a QB to make good reads - pre-snap and post-snap, pass pretty good 1st, run pretty good 2nd. Love and appreciate KT but our coach has been busting it recruiting, using JUCOs and transfers to make us a better team.

No offense, but your a dubmass for hating on Joe. You and others act like it's Joe's fault Dan left.

Exactly. We brought in a better player & his chances of starting next year looked 50-50 (maybe not even that good). Hope he lands at a school he can get playing time.

I truly do hope & pray Tommy is a better player, and I'm pulling for him 100%. But I'll reserve judgement on Tommy until after I see him actually play significant minutes as QB1 in at least a couple of games vs quality opponents. I want to see what he can do while the game is still undecided and he's up against quality defenses.

I may be an idiot but I dont believe in Franks. I think Florida is a good fit.
Franks showed a ton of improvement last year, but even if he stumbles, UF has Emory Jones. KT would need Franks to stumble and EJ to bust. They are very high on EJ in Florida.

Yeah scared of competition. Everyone says he’s terrible if JoMo doesn’t have faith in him. Until he proves otherwise, JoMo doesn’t have a lot of stock in my bank when it comes to making wise personnel decisions. Remember, Kylin Hill and Aeris Williams barely touched the ball last year.

It’s not Joe’s fault. But I don’t believe the powers that hired Joe, or Joe himself honestly, realized the overhaul that would be required at that position for his system to work.

I would hope we could all agree that no matter what decision Key has made, or will make, we all wish him the best. That kid does not owe us anything, personally I wish for nothing but good things for his future. Wherever that future might be. To say he is afraid of competition or he is looking for better fit is the packs right, and those perspectives deserve respect. I just would hate to say anything bad about a kid that, for the most part until the end, was a pretty loyal soldier.

He's been in love with KT for a while. Started screaming that Joe might not give him a fair chance once Stevens showed up. Now he is listing Joe's failure to give him a fair chance as one of only two possible reasons KT is leaving. We all hoped KT was going to be the second coming of Dak, but I never saw it on the field. He was slower than Fitz and a less accurate passer. He threw 5 td passes against SFA, but he completed only 42% (13 0f 31) of his passes in that game. If he had been on-target more often, he might have had 10. In his "coming out" party against Louisville, the press said he outplayed Lamar Jackson, a claim that blacklistedbully has repeated on this board. That was true only because Jackson threw 4 interceptions. KT was 11 of 20 with an interception in that game.

C. He was going to be suspended and have to sit the majority of the year anyway, so combined with A and B, he’s bugging out.

Uh, there is no way on God’s Green Earth that Keytaon Thompson becomes the starting QB at a school like Florida, LSU, Auburn, or the like.

You’ll likely see him at a La tech, La Monroe, Cincinnati, Tulane, Western Ky, etc. He might start at a UAB, South Alabama, or Arkansas State but no way he starts at an SEC school.

You're an idiot...truly. I never once said I was in love with KT, or even favored him. The only positions I took were disagreeing that it was a "done deal" the moment Joe signed TS, and pointing out to those who were convinced TS was, "the man" that there simply was not (still is not) nearly enough real game play or stats to claim, as many here do, that TS was the clearly better QB.

I made these points, not because I was pulling for KT to win the job, but because it was just a nonsensical position to take that TS's previous stats were the slightest bit relevant or proof he was better. I very clearly stated my hope was that our HC would be smart enough to truly have an open mind, and that BOTH would be given an equal opportunity to win the job because that would be best for our team.

Also, genius, I did not say Joe didn't give him a fair chance, I clearly stated the only reasons I could think of for why KT would transfer with TS having just one year to play included perhaps KT's belief he was not being given a fair chance. I said this because it would seem illogical for KT to go elsewhere when he'd still have to ride the bench/sit out a year, but would not have the advantage next year of being in Joe's system another year, and the most experienced QB on our roster. Therefore, if it was not my, "A" reason, then there must be a decent chance it was "B" because if he does think he's a good fit, why would he look to start over if he thought he'd get a legit shot next year?

That's called logic, *******.

As far as KT's passing stats go, I rightly made the point that SFA game was our first ever in Joe's offense, and it was clear Joe had determined he was going to force the pass, regardless of what the defense showed, or how well anyone on our offense had yet grasped the scheme.

Another thing, jackass, KT got to play 3 full games in his entire college career. One was the Egg Bowl where he came in cold after Fitz broke his leg, struggled at first, then turned it around after he got into the flow and damn near brought us back for a comeback win. The game vs Louisville he did outplay LJ. That's just a fact. And he did it in a bowl game in his first ever start in a game where our coaching staff abandoned us right after the Egg Bowl. You also conveniently leave out the fact he rushed for 147 yards and 3 TD's, for an average per carry of 5.4.

Got anything else really stupid to post? If you're gonna try to call me out, please try to be a little smarter and a lot more honest.

Also, fans of Florida, LSU, Auburn and those like them would **** a brick if their coach told them he was starting a guy that (twice) couldn’t win the starting job at Mississippi State. They’re not real keen on taking our QB castoffs I guarantee it.

Think about it...KT was bad enough in practice and camp that Moorhead refused to put him in when Fitz was clearly struggling last year, then spent the off-season courting other P5 QB transfers for someone who could give him a decent chance to win.

Moorhead and the staff have seen KT’s complete skill set for almost two years and they have demonstrated multiple times that they feel it doesn’t cut the mustard. He’s a great kid and a good football player but he’s not an SEC quarterback....and that’s ok.

Wow! Let's see now. You never said any of the **** you have been ranting about for weeks. Gotcha. And I'm the idiot and *******. A little ad hominem, the favored response of children and people who are attempting to defend a defenseless position. And you are guilty in this very thread of saying KT could win the starting job at LSU or Texas A&M and you are basing that on about the same amount of actual playing time as Stevens had, but you cursed everybody who said Stevens was better than KT because they did not have enough to go on. But then, children sometimes aren't really good with logic or consistency. If you are going to be so sensitive about people's responses, you really might want to consider staying off SPS.

I'm not disputing anything you just said, but if we're to believe that neither Fitz, KT, or Mayden were proper fits for Joe's system, I don't see how that's anything short of an overhaul.

He played well against Kansas State last year, but otherwise I haven't seen him do much. I suppose he did OK against OM after Fitz's leg got broken.
