Anyone on here knowledgeable on retail prices. getting hose in Tampa, 2.71/gallon. I see in Mississippi it in the 2.20's. and we don't have that big a difference in state tax.........

That is why simply looking at taxes doesn't tell the whole story when it comes to cost-of-living.

I don’t know how it all works or whether some states just have insanely high gas taxes or not, but I travel a good bit for work, and I can safely say that central/north MS consistently have some of the best gas prices that you can find anywhere. Desoto county in particular seems to always be really favorable

There are no refineries in Florida. We have a big one in Pascagoula and 3 smaller ones in the state, and Louisiana has a lot of refineries. Lower transportation costs = lower prices.

State gas tax variances

https://www.google.com/search?q=gas...AgEEAE&biw=1333&bih=670#imgrc=nGXWHAH02_6RcM:

You can find it there.

Fed Gas tax is .18ish.
MS Gas tax is .18ish.

In MS, tax accounts for roughly 0.37.

Alabama has a blanket state tax and also certain districts also tax gas. So there is variance all across Alabama by county. Alabama also just increased their state gas tax which should go in effect on 8/1/19

$3.09 in Louisville, KY
Kentucky routinely has some of the most expensive gas in the country for some reason.

Been exposed to Logistics for 40 years, we do have a large port, so another 3-4 cents a gallon for transportation.........

Hell, that cheap for them the lefties.............

Not all lefties out here. Unfortunately, it is the majority of the population for California thanks to the large cities that swing left. Gas is currently sitting around $3.70 in Temecula, CA. California gas tax just rose to $0.473 per gal.

Slight hijack but perhaps the greatest oc scam of all-time was the gas tax scam Michael Franzese ran.

The blanket primaries there will insure that the tax-and-spend politicians will only increase the taxes so that only the rich can afford to drive anywhere.

Was in Jackson Hole, Wy/Idaho/Montana area last month. Gas was no cheaper than 3.15-3.30 a gallon. At least a $1.00-1.50 more per gallon than North MS.

Probably costs a lot just to get gas to such out of the way places.

There's one Texaco station here that has regular for $2.499 and premium for $3.659. I doubt they sell much premium with that sort of differential.
