Really poor showing, to be honest. I'm not sure it's the best venue for the Jackson area. The Clyde Muse Center is at the Hinds CC Rankin campus off Hwy 80 in Pearl. And a Tuesday night. Anyway, met a few great Bulldogs there and had a good time. The first guy at the podium begged us all to bring some friends next year. He was pissed at the measly crowd.

I expect “not a great showing by the fans” to be a pretty consistent theme over the next few months.

The only coach there that has exceeded expectations thus far was Lemonis, and yes, I was there with a pretty large crew. There is no doubt we are in a fog. It’s 100% on Moorhead to prove he isn’t a dumbass or we better get used to sparse crowds. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, but after last years disappointment, he is a bad loss away from losing many of us entirely. That is the truth.

I used to go every year, but haven't been in probably 10 years now. The food got bad, the drink lines long, and the acoustics and speakers were terrible at the Trademart and you couldn't hear anything but "working hard, mumble, mumble, bigger stronger, mumble, mumble, faster, aggressive mumble, mumble" Has anything changed?

Those types of events are going the way of the dodo bird

With the internet and constant information that our AD produces, along with coverage from the media and fan sites, you don’t have to go to get information on the upcoming season or team. The only thing it offers is a way for kids to get a few autographs

serious question for someone that lives out of state and can't attend on a Tuesday night. why not do it on a Saturday night? have good food, maybe some drinks. make it fun for everyone. i get that its a kids event and maybe alcohol wouldn't work, but ****, there MSState fans. they better learn to drink their sorrows away. lol. for real though, why not a Friday or Saturday night?

There was no food at his one, at least, not in the building. They had some food trucks that were pretty good. No alcohol. The sound system was still bad though, mainly because they were having to speak over all the people talking.

Yep just like the games themselves, they are going to have to do things to make it more attractive to fans.

Hasn't been good crowds at those type things since Mullen's first year. Everybody was just so happy to POSSIBLY be out of the doldrums of Jackie's demise and the Croom Error. Only so much excitement that can be manufactured. Just like that dude that prayed said last night, it's time to start asking for a championship. The fanbase would explode after that.

If you live out of state why would you come to a Central MS Alumni Association event? Go to one near where you live, if there is one. If there isn't, start one.

Dawg1979 may be able to arrange to be there while visiting friends and family. I get that because my family once went to the Central Mississippi event while visiting relatives many years ago when I was younger.

the highlight was a fan that walked in with a capuchin monkey.

i was a bit harsh calling moorhead a dumbass....so i regret that, but football has an entirely different feel after the florida game. some of my fears became closer to reality after that game unfortunately.

food trucks were ok, a few vendors had some good clothing options, pics with bully were good, audio was bad...but overall, just kinda flat and low energy vibe.

Having an event in Pearl seems like a good way to attract a Pearl sized crowd. Nothing wrong with that, but if they are expecting it to be a crowd that reflects the population of the metro jackson area, they pretty much have to have it in Jackson somewhere convenient to I-55.

And like someone else said, the information itself is basically already available, so they have to do something to make it attractive as an entertainment venue. I was on the Coast for the Road Dawgs tour a few years ago and it was well attended (I guess; not sure what they expected but the venue was basically full). They had a bar and buffet and the food and drinks were pretty good and it was still more or less kid friendly. Not great entertainment options for kids, but for kids old enough to enjoy listening to the coaches, it wasn't family unfriendly. If they want something more kid friendly than that, they need a venue with something like jump houses and face painting and basically make it a mini-fair with autograph sessions and meet and greets. Not sure if that's the type of thing they are going for.

People don't show up to "scheduled events" as much as they used to. I've even noticed this with the work and civic events/committee meetings that I attend. In the past few years it has really been hard to get people to show up to things. I don't know if it has something to do with how social media has changed our society, or just more people becoming disconnected with groups and associations.

We are slowly but surely becoming a society of homebodies.

I think this is indirectly related to the attendance of football games around the country as well. With the other being the fact that it's so damn expensive and if you don't sit it a club section, extremely uncomfortable.

Location location location.
Yeah, I was offered a ticket about 4:00 yesterday afternoon. Had no idea it was even last night until then. Had to turn it down because I had tennis scheduled. If I had realized it was at Hinds CC in Pearl, I would have turned it down even if I was free though.

There wasn't much advertising for. I don't think there was any at all. I did not know it was happening until 3:30 yesterday. I still made it. There was a rain storm that hit. I think those two things had a lot to do with the attendance.

You are spot on and it is definitely the result of social media and technology. It has expanded our footprint and reduced the amount of face to face interaction..... which is good sometimes but negative in cases such as this.

Lots of hype and great expectations. I remember going many years ago when Bellard said, "we're going to throw our hat in the ring and it will take a damn good man to knock it out." Think we finished last in the SEC that year and Bellard was fired.

i didn't even know about it until the day of, but the last one of those I went to it wasn't really anything special or anything i hadn't heard before. we get plenty of sport exposure if you are on twitter on any of the social media sites. all of those events are typically coach speak type things.

No food, no drinks, no attendance, here's your sign. The food was free back then but you bought drink tickets
