(+9) The media undervalued Mississippi State every year until 2018, but overrated them by one spot last season. With quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, defensive end Montez Sweat, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and defensive back Johnathan Abram gone, there's a good chance that the Bulldogs will be underrated by the media again in 2019.

The media and the fans are both going to underrate the Dogs again in 2019.

Sally wrote that article and he'll still pick us to win 5.5 games every year.

C34 says 7-5 in his preseason prognostication that everyone was waiting on.

Of course, he worded it to where if we go 3-8 or 12-0, he can say I told you so.

He has also continued his adolescent way of giving coaches a sophomoric nickname... JoVester.

You mean the hs football coach who is unable to hold a job for longer than a year?

Ha ha. I'm about as "show me" on Joe Moorhead as anyone, and even I think we're going 8-4. And the attempt at a clever nickname is just pathetic.

Who is this “everyone” you speak of?

I find it amusing now because he clearly has two camps of followers. Minions who harrumph his every word and the rest can't stand him and have grown tired of his "style" of sports analysis.

For whatever reason, this had something to do with Dan. No one ever expected us to be any good. Or maybe subconsciously they didn't want us to be good because nobody likes him. Either way, I see the opposite right now with Coach Joe. It seems like most pundits are expecting better results than most State fans. If Dan was our coach with the upcoming team, the popular prediction would be 3-8 and last in the West.
As it is, aren't we picked third in the division? With arguably the least proven team (on paper) in a decade?

We were better than both Auburn and A&M last year, and both of those teams have much tougher schedules than we do this year. A&M returns more than we do, but Auburn is going to be starting a true freshman at qb and they had one of the worst offensive lines in the conference last year. Arkansas and Ole Miss will be 2 of the worst p5 teams in the country this year again, and we also get a great East draw with Kentucky and Tennessee. We also return a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. We are also replacing people we did lose with very highly rated players and players that played a good bit last year on the best defense in the country. We don't recruit like the elite schools at every position, but we have at defensive end and we have a lot of secondary talent to replace Abrams and Peters. There will be a drop-off on defense but it will not be off a cliff. Defensive tackle is the only spot on defense that looks like a possible weakness and that spot is going to consist of a true freshman top 75 national player trying to get 2nd team reps. How many times have we had a recruit of that caliber not only not start as a freshman but have to fight to get second team reps and that be our weakest spot on the defense? Offensively we are going to be more experienced at every position outside of the qb, which is obviously the most important position. The season basically hinges on a grad transfer panning out, which is really exciting and really scary at the same time.

I think many attributed Florida success to Meyer whereas Penn St was perceived as due to Joe. Now were they right? Not really. Mullen was more instrumental in Florida success than most realized. Joe and his offense might not have deserved as much praise as it got. Probably dont know that yet. Joe seems like a good leader and recruiter.
