I know, cut the cord but I have directv they constantly keep jacking prices up. Is Dish that much better or about the same? I get every sport channel know to man, dish provide the same?

Mole crickets/dales didn't help the directv screwing.

I have Dish & have been happy with it. I have never had an interruption of my local stations (Jackson market). It is expensive though. I pay $125 per month and don't have any pay movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Cinemax). i do have 5 televisions though plus a sports package that gets me Longhorn Network, Pac-12 Network, Big 10 Network, NFL Redzone, MLB Network, NBA Network & all the Regional Fox Sports Stations

I assume you get SEC network, correct?

Called DTV last year to see if they would cut my bill. Didn’t make any threats or act a fool. I just told them that there was a lot of other options out there for cheaper. They cut my internet/TV bundle by $40 for a year.

I still think it’s too much. The equipment is old, and we hardly even watch it. I don’t really have the desire to try to get new equipment, and I don’t want a contract.

Two things.

One, I've had both Dish and DirecTV. I Prefer DirecTV and they are similar in costs.

Two, if you have other AT&T services they will give you breaks on DirecTV

I'm getting $60 off my bill plus a couple other discounts on HBO and Starz. If you upgrade your equipment, you get locked into a 2 year lease agreement on that. I'm inching closer and closer to going full stream.

Dish and DirecTV are about the same. I used to have DirecTV but changed to Dish because my neighbors tree was blocking my signal when we had rain ... apparently the leaves were sagging just enough when wet. Picture quality is about the same for the two.

I have Dish with Hopper 3 and a Joey (for another set), 3 TB DVR, sports package, no premiums like HBO, and my monthly cost is about $140 when all the taxes and other "hidden" charges are added. I've forgotten what they call my package, but it has about 200 channels. Only watch a handful of them though, but I like the Discovery Network channels. Every once in a while we'll lose a local station because of contractual expiration and new negotiations, but that's just part of it. The station blames Dish, and Dish blames the station. They eventually come to terms. In the meantime, I can watch locals over-the-air. The only drawback to watching over-the-air is that you can't record using the DVR because the Hopper doesn't have an OTA input (they used to). You can get a gadget for a price (of course) to enable you to run the OTA signal into the Hopper if recording is a must-have. But I still like satellite over cable because the DVR and the set-top box in general is better.

I’ve had Direct for years but ATT is ruining them. Direct had excellent customer service until ATT bought them out and since then I have had one problem after the other. I unknowingly signed a new contract a little over a year ago while moving some equipment during a house remodel. That was the first straw and when my times up I will be going with Dish or going without.

I'd recommend you call Dish and disguise a price reduction. I've got dish for $85 per month and have everything except NBA and Red zone, no movie channels and barely watch all the channels. Told them almost 2 years ago I was cancelling and they proceeded to offer me that price with all upgraded equipment. One problem I have is when it storms satellite goes out, but I have Roku sticks so do have an alternative. In your case if you're paying $125 I would seriously consider cutting the cord if Dish refuses to negotiate. You have the potential to save approximately $75 a month with one of the cord cutting programs.

Following.....got to sign up for something next week....

had DTV for 3.5 years and had enough with ATT internet.....was paying for 12Mbps and only receiving 6MBPs....had a tech out twice and told me that is all i could get being in my location from the local router.....so i left everything to go to MaxxSouth and bundled with them....only issue is that their TV service absolutely sucks....had it since Jan 1, and while i don't like it enough to leave it, my wife hates it with a passion. She left out of town to visit her family for the next two weeks and wants it changed back or over to something not maxxsouth....so i assume its DTV again... I just need to not get *** raped for a tv package and I have 5 TVs in the house....want to see best deal out there....

I’ve got DirecTV. We have most movie channels and pay around $150 per month. Tried Dish, but cancelled service before the equipment was ever installed. Their service techs SUCKED. No showed one time. Showed up 4 hours late the second time and told my wife they couldn’t install without us having some expensive work done because of how our property is set up (trees). Third time they showed up without the equipment they said they could use as a workaround for the tree issue. I told them to forget about it. Canceled service. Got offered a bunch of incentives to stay. Had DirecTV with virtually no hassle within a week.

Hulu Live + Netflix + Roku + Antenna + Channel Master DVR = $57/month to watch anything I want. Occasionally something will come on HBO that I want to see so I'll subscribe for a month or 2 and drop it. Probably dropping Netflix at end of this month, just don't watch it much anymore but again I can always subscribe for a month or 2 and quit.

Either one of them, mif that’s your only choice.
Thankfully, I was also able to cut the chord. Both dish and directv will start you very low and then double the price after 1-2 years. Plus, u are automatically renewed for a 2 year contract if they have to replace a receiver box. It’s crazy. Fortunately, I now have fiber optic at 150-250 mbps up to 1 gig for $70/month.
I got PlayStation vue for $52 month for live tv it includes SEC network and all espn’s as well as locals.
However, Prior to fiber optic, I was paying $120 for direct tv and $100 for Atnt hot spot that sucked at 7 mbps! Thank God that scam is over. That’s right- I’m SAVING a $100/month for MUCH better internet and adequate live tv. Throw in Netflix and amazon prime and I’m great.

I do have the Pluto app on my tablet and Roku tv, it's got a lot of good channels (Fail Army is an endless rabbit hole if you start it) but damn they pile on the commercials.
