This is not an original thought, but it bears repeating... Bart Gregory brought up a solid point on Twitter last night and others chimed in as well.

Having Eduardo and Karl Ravech in the booth is not fair to guys like Dave Neal and Clay Matvick who call college baseball all year and know the players and the college game.

Perez and Ravech are fed 3 talking points and after the 3rd inning they have nothing to talk about, so you see interviews with Pearl and Gus or Perez pining over his pro career. Peterson is very knowledgable about the college game but it’s hard not to get caught up in the nonsense. Ravech is bearable, but I think I would rather sit in a closed room with the Vandy whistler than listen to marble mouthed Eduardo.

It’s really a travesty that Ben McDonald, Chris Burke and Dave Neal won’t call any prime time games. That’s easily the best crew in the business for college baseball.

I went after Ravech on twitter. I said that Tom Hart does more research for 1 batter than Ravech does for the entire rosters. And it shows. It's not Ravech's fault...it's ESPN's fault. Tom Hart, Dave Neal and Clay Matvick are good. You also have Mike Morgan who does a good job. Insult to college baseball and it's fans that ESPN continues to run Ravech and Perez out there. KP, Big Ben and Chris Burke are all top-shelf.

I like Peterson. I'd rather they bring Jessica Mendoza in there than have to listen to Eduardo Perez.

The real tragedy is that we don't get the guys you mention. I suspect it has something to do with the SEC affiliation of those guys.

Here are instructions as to how to deal with that.

Tune into the TV broadcast of the game. Tune in to the MSU radio broadcast. Utilize the pause feature of your cable/satellite system to sync game action with the MSU radio broadcast. Mute TV. Enjoy.

Pro tip: Use the Tunein or Radio.com apps on your phone or tablet to access MSU baseball. This will also allow you to also pause/FF the radio broadcast and make syncing easier especially when the radio is ahead.

Dave Neal is freaking awful. Just about as bad as Perez. One of the more annoying voices on tv.

Dave Neal's voice sounds pretty generic to me. Half the time I will tune in and think it's Dave Neal only to discover that it's someone else.

I like Ravech a lot (he's a baseball guy and has a distinct voice) but I agree with others in that he is not as intimately familiar with many of the college storylines. As a result we get a lot of regurgitated stories and meaningless conversation about stupid stuff during the broadcasts.

Crikey, Dave Neal is one of the last truly good multi-sport announcers left on tv.

No one will ever top the Three Daves. Get 'em back together and give them a primer on baseball.*

Slight hijack... next to Jack and Jim, the three daves probably represent the voice of MSU football to me more than any other.

This is true. And sad.

Ravech isn’t great but better than Mike Patrick was. Good gosh he was awful in 2013.

Eduardo is just terrible. As others have said, I don’t like bringing in MLB guys that haven’t called college games all year just because they are bigger names.

Unfortunately good, well informed college baseball guys are not very abundant. We are kinda spoiled with some of the guys that call games for the SEC Network, and even with our own in-house guys in Bart and Charlie. When you’re in a region that cares a lot about the sport, it’s easy to forget how little the rest of the country does care for the most part. Omaha coverage is merely a footnote on ESPN’s website right now, and it’s way worse than that until the CWS starts.

Ravech is ok but he thinks that the word "foul" is a two syllable word and it's gets on my nerves.
