Game 1, small threw 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and K'd seven and had 3 walks...pretty pedestrian by his standards. colby white took the loss after we gave up a 5-2 lead using Liebelt, Barlow and Smith. Final score Aub-6 MSU-5.
Game 2, Ginn threw 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and k'd six with had 1 walk and 1 HBP. Liebelt threw 2 innings and gave up 1 hit. Final score MSU-15 Aub-2.
Game 3, James got the start giving up 4 runs on 8 hits with 3 K's and 1 walk in 3 innings (yikes), gordon got 3 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, smith and price gave up 2 and 4 hits while giving up 3 and 4 runs respectively and neither recording an out (yikes). barlow went 1 inning giving up a hit and a run, and self went 2 innings giving up 2 hits and 0 runs. Final score MSU-20 Aub-15, but they matched our hit total at 21 hits.
I have a coworker that is a big auburn fan and he has said throughout the year that auburn's weakness is laying off the lower part of the zone and breaking pitches out of the zone. if its up, they mash it. we must live in the bottom of the zone and if we go Small, he has got to keep his pitch count low which means competitive pitches that are at least somewhat near the strike zone when we are up 0-2 and 1-2 in the count. i think james, smith, and price should be situational at-best because they all got knocked by auburn pretty bad. just my .02, but we have got to keep the ball down.
