The legislature will not be in session until 2020, so unless you expect a special session to be called to address the state law prohibiting alcohol on campus - 2019 beer/liquor sales were never going to happen anyway.

I’ve never set in the club level or a skybox. But I understand there is a “Clean Out Your Locker Day” on Thursday’s prior to the game. Otherwise known as “Stock Your Locker.” And I’ve heard that fifths of liquor openly set on tables in skyboxes and club level. So, As Keenum walks around and shakes hands with the premium seaters, he looks the other way. But for those of us commoners, we are forced to sneak ours in? Now, he’s going to not allow us to enjoy a brew when EVERY other SEC school will implement it? Great call, dubmass.

I'm a big fan of beer however selling beer at SEC football games aounds like a bad idea to me. Sure it will make the school money but I wonder what the effect will be on the in stadium experience.

This isn’t meant to be a shot at you, but go to a Grizzlies game next year and then one of ours at the Hump. In almost every scenario I’ve ever encountered, venues with alcohol sales are infinitely more exciting than those without

I've sat in midfield skybox 6-7 times and this family didn't have alcohol in theirs but after the games you could get a second hand buzz just riding the elevators with skybox folks so you probably aren't far off.

I think selling beer at The Dude would 17 up the good thing we got going. Who wants to stand in line for an arm band, stand in line for a beer, pay 5x what you're paying bringing your own, and then get cut off in the 7th. Those extra inning games would suck.

For those that say well the university could still let you bring in coolers. Once you get in the alcohol business vendors or insurance may dictate the policy.

Ive been to several and agree. I was mostly talking about DWS though. No NFL atmosphere Ive been in touches SEC football. And Ive seen so much BS happen in our stands already I just dont see beer helping.

The people that would be buying enough beer to get visibly drunk are already drinking during games. I would think the impact would be close to zero. There are probably even some people who can't hold their liquor that would be less rowdy if allowed to buy beer.

Anyone who is against alcohol sales at any event

is a stupid *******. That has to be the most "Mississippi" train of thought. Increase revenue for the university, allows fans to have a good time, and will imporve overall atmosphere and morale. Ive been to countless, NFL, NBA, and MLB games all where I've drank beer and I've never seen the violent riots that so many on here are so terrified of. Blue laws are the most ignorant and hypocritical laws on our books and we want to extend them to our campus while our rivals will be taking full advantage of the new policy? If Keenum bans alcohol sales at games to the commoners all that is going to do is encourage more fans to stay home in a time where all schools are having attendance problems due to the comfort of watching at home.

I’ve just about never had to stand in line for an armband separate from a beer line. At every festival or sporting event I’ve been to that sells beer, the beer vendors themselves can give you an armband when they pour your first one, or there is no armband and they just card you each time. And given that a baseball game is an openly attended event with multiple underage college students, they would likely ditch the armbands entirely and check ID’s every time to prevent people from going up and getting one armband at a time for their multiple underaged friends.

Also, I think the university would be smart enough to not do anything to piss off the lounge owners who are paying high dollar for their spots (and it’s not reasonable to expect them to walk all the way to the normal concession area anyways). The current policy for them would remain in place. And when you do the math on the total attendance at the games, you are talking about only 10% of game attendees who would be benefitting from bringing their own in. Still plenty of money to be made from the grandstand crowd who can’t have coolers.

I have an opinion different than yours so I am a stupid *******? Its not like I am going to protest or never go to games again. But from my POV the games are already really fun. People (including myself) already drink before and during games. Now you can bet your *** that security is going to increase and crack down on bringing in whiskey. The concessions area will be even more crowded. The bathrooms will be even more disgusting. I think it probably does improve the atmosphere for an 11 kick against West Nowhere Tech but for a night game against Alabama or LSU or OM I think that tensions, hatred, and alcohol are a bad mix. Just my opinion. For me the ability to overpay for beer is not worth having to deal with all of the BS that comes with other people being able to. Some people dont need access to more drinks inside the stadium.

Maybe stupid ******* was a bit rough but it makes me bang my head against a wall that anyone can be against men and women of legal age having a beer.

Alcohol venders will almost certainly set up their own stands in addition to concession stands so that’ll handle crowding.

The SEC is not any crazier than the NFL. If they can handle alcohol, so can we.

How are bathrooms going to be more nastier if alcohol is allowed?

Security has and will always continue to confiscate liquor brought into the stadium. That will not change based on whichever way we decide to go.

As I mentioned before there is absolutely ZERO reason to not offer alcohol. Other than the hypocritical reason that alcohol is the debbil. And if the powers of be really feel that way they need to crack down on everyone drinking in all premium seating. If they don’t then they either feel that the peasants are brutes and can’t handle alcohol or they’re hypocrites. I’m going with hypocrites.

I've been to sporting events where alcohol is sold and sporting events where people bring their own. I prefer the atmosphere when people bring their own. People don't have to miss the game to refill drinks, tend to get rowdier and more into the game, and then of course obviously it's cheaper. I wouldn't be upset if they decided to sell alcohol and clamp down on the BYO aspect b/c they were having problems with crowd control, but that wouldn't be my preference. And maybe you're the *** hole for not being able to see why people would prefer the status quo?

If I had my preference, they'd add beer sales and just look the other way as far as people bringing their own liquor, but I'm not sure that won't cause problems with their insurance.

It’s more about the fact that it’s 2019 and you don’t have the opportunity to buy a 10 dollar beer at a sporting event

If Ole Miss sells beer....

We will soon follow, who cares if beer is sold? Like many others have said, it will make money and will pay for the increase in needed security. Yes, I have carried my 6 year old daughter to countless NFL games that have full bars and beer sales...Guess what? It was ok....I hope Ole Miss starts it in 2019 it will put pressure on us to do the same...

I've gone to games sober and I've gone to games drunk (or gotten drunk there). I've had way more fun at the latter.

People, people, people, settle the 17 down. This is going to happen. Patience and persistence will lead to the inevitable. It cannot be stopped now. The Baptists loaded up and blew their wad by claiming all manner of raping and pillaging and death, dismemberment and destruction, dead bodies errywhare, drunken mayhem, husbands leaving families, alkee-hawlicks errywhare, chillrenz abandoned, societal chaos and breakdown!1!!1!11. None of it happened. The moralists have no platform on this issue.

As someone who is a recovering alcoholic, I would never be against something like this simply because I know many people drink responsibly and absolutely have the right to. But it also gives me an interesting sort out of outside perspective on how we always feel the NEED to integrate alcohol into everything we do. Some people act like not selling beer at games is some sort of infringement on their rights.

Try going to The Governors Trophy baseball game next year. It is a massive cluster-17 every year with the damned armbands for beer.

It’s more of how much money this could give us.

I wonder how much money we are talking about. If you sold 100,000 beers a game for 7 home games. How much would the university actually profit per beer sold?

Again, I’m not against it. I’m just curious how much money we are talking. Maybe somebody has some expertise in this area.

Well we could also have sponsored areas and ads from distributors. That would be another area.
