if there was any doubt the NCAA 'manipulates' seeding.....

The Ga Tech #3 national seed should put that firmly to rest. There is no rational formula I can find to remotely justify this selection. They are 8th in RPI, 6th, 7th, 11th, and 10th in the latest polls, have 17 losses, went 19-11 vs Q1, and failed to win either the ACC or their conference tournament. Yet they are the #3 overall seed.

Another data point is mississippi. They went from a projected solid 2 seed to #12 and hosting. They are 22nd in RPI, 25 losses, 29th, 18th, 17th, in the polls although D1 shot them up from 23th to 11th for some reason. They finished 5th in the West, 7th overall in SEC and 2nd in the tourney. They lost their 6 of their last 7 reg season games. If I was a TAM fan I would be forevermore PO'd right now.

We finished with the 6th national seed but again it is apparent that the seeding is very fluid apparently so the NCAA can get the matchups they want.

Overall though I am happy we are not paired with another SEC team until the CWS. We do have a pretty competitive regional compared with some of the others but it is very manageable and if we get to a super Stanford is not a bad draw when you dig into their resume a bit.

Om as a host makes sense. 4th most quad 1 wins. And 21 sec wins. Is it ridiculous to weight sec tourney ganes like reg season games? Absolutely. But thats what they do.

Whats frustrating, and they did this with ga tech, is they seem to use ooc data when convenient. If ooc is important the. Om should never be the 12. They had an ooc rpi of almost 80

Ray Tanner should be embarrassed for saying one of the reasons tcu got in is they are starting to get healthy.

You're correct, but it worked out well for us. Our biggest challenge is getting out of the regional. We will have to play well, but Stanford at the dude is a good matchup for us, and then we'd face a very overrated Georgia Tech team out of the gates in Omaha.

We have to take care of business, but the path for us is extremely manageable.

I heard the Tanner quote and it's astounding.

Having TCU in there over Mizzou (and about 10 other teams) is borderline criminal.

Yep, the only justification for TCU getting in would be if Schloss has blackmail material on most of the NCAA selection committee.

Does Tanner get more than one vote as chair?

I would think not.

He probably thought it was a terrible decision but that was the best excuse he could come up with.

I’m thinking the committee put more weight into to conference tournaments this year than they should have.

Its almost comical that in the one year where RPI would have helped us (in either a basketball or baseball selection process) the baseball committee appeared to have deweighted that in favor of some other metrics. We also had 3 more Q1 wins than any other team in D1 except for Vandy. I'm fine with what we got though. If you get a guarantee of all home games up to Omaha that's about all you can ask for.

no doubt it was setup to eliminate SEC members. multiple moves make that crystal clear. its kinda weird because the seeding should reward teams for their body of work, but its clearly beyond that at this point.

Interesting that the #4 NS hogs are paired with the only SEC team to win a series in fayetteville. Not to worry hogs. Have you taken a look at the rebs track record in the NCAAT?

Yep. Pretty obvious they dont want to see 6 of the 8 teams in Omaha from the SEC.

The SEC tourney that "means nothing" evidently has a strong effect on the final seeding of the NCAA Tournament. We got lucky in that we don't have an SEC Super matchup, but four teams aren't that lucky. I wonder if we should just drop the SEC tourney if they are just going to pair you against another SEC team to get to Omaha.

I think of how we lost the second game to LSU hurt us and then helped ole miss a ton for beating ark, uga, and playing vandy in a close one. Apparently the committee used it this year a lot

Whats funny is the sec puts the teams that need the tourney wins the most in the most peril by sending 4 of them home after 1 game

I’m fine with what we got also. Stanford is s tough pac12 school. Baseball America has them at number 3 and us at 5. Assuming that we both make the super that would be a top 5 matchup according to the poll in a super. It is what is. You want to win it all, you will have to beat some good teams. I hope the older guys remember 2016 and that you can’t take any team for granted from this point on. I don’t want another repeat of 2016.

Also we are a 6 seed but yet we draw at worst the 3rd best 2 seed. Hell Miami should of ended up in Oxford or Baton Rouge
